i figured u removed rook for alpha testing but finding out it is gone for good is sad
are you hosting RoA or are u making a new server all together?
 
Ah, I understand what you mean, even though some people might of liked rook, most wouldn't have and would of probably quit before even finishing it. Perhaps during beta/near release you could possibly take some time and make a more fast pace rook guard that wouldn't take long, possibly add some secrets for those true RPG players :)

You really want rook? Please explain why and i`ll take it into consideration. I seriously debated with enough people about keeping in rook and everyone said to remove it.

My only reason of keeping rook was to keep the originality of ROA, but why else would you want rook in. So you could do what.

also none of the wands have aoe damage which is also kinda sad.. it was one of the coolest features imo...
 
So I personally think it would be awesome to add rook. You could script it so to get out of rook, it wasn't so hard, for the vocation you wanna be, just find the monster spawn (Which it could tell you where it was when you logged in ) obtain the item, and take it to the NPC where you will be able too choose the vocation.
I would like to have rook worked on a little more for people like me, and the 'true RPG players' with secret quests, and story line, and stuff you can only obtain in rook.
 
I would rather skip working on rook and add secret quests, story line, and amazingness to the real world :). (Personally because it IS a choice, either I can work on rookgaurd or work on the main server, and I choose main server)

We now are balancing the vocations and re-doing all weapons so we can have some custom scripts (Such as casting a spell that enchants your wand to be AoE, or shapeshifting into a dragon and now your weapon shoots fireballs and flame waves)

Hurray for highly-customized everything

I can't tell if thats a joke or not lol, as if I would add the ancient vocation? It was every vocation combined together. lol it was the most OP thing imaginable.

If you could give me any other reason of adding rook other than the fact that, with rook, if you got level 50 in it, and completed the long quest which had a 1/10000 chance of obtaining the ancient vocation, i`ll take it seriously.

And your telling me.. in all of ROA.. "one of the most coolest features" was the fact the wand hit 3 more targets instead of one?

Like im trying to take serious feedback and take it into consideration but thats just ridiculous . I took out aoe from wands because mages were able to hunt way to easily. You would go into heros for example, and use a wand which costs 0 mana and damage every hero and run around.

And for everyone saying to add rook but make it easier and faster. Why bother adding it then, if I add rook, its going to be long. Why would I want rook to be 3 minutes to complete, might as well not add it. If I add rook, it's going to be long, with quests and storyline lol, but no one wants that so I'm not doing it.

Side note, massive update is going really well. Can't wait to show all you guys what we have been cooking and what will be ingame now.

We are still just working on level 8-49.
So at level 8 when you choose your vocation we are having 3 custom spells per vocation. Which means today we have custom scripted 12 spells. (And all of them look and feel amazing)
Now we are working on the equipment (Since we have re-works alot of the promotions the EQ has to be redone)

FOR EXAMPLE:
Before if you played a hunter you'd have Xbow-Bow-Xbow-Bow and your ammo would go arrow-bolt-arrow-bolt, this caused an issue with your ammo and weapon not matching if they weren't the same tier.
WELL now as a Hunter you will always use Xbow, but when you promote that bow will change into your new weapon (if you choose Marksman and have a T2 Xbow it will turn into a T2 bow and same with your ammo).
No more Hunter problems :).
 
Well than I think making T0-T1 wand with a small AOE would be nice, since at low levels mages are really weak, and it's discouraging.
I don't think this would hurt too bad. & I like thr remake of the hunters weapons.
 
If he did make it so it had an AOE, it would have to be something like the more amount of monsters it hits the less amount each one does, mages were never hard for me ^_^ With exura it was pretty easy to live and I thought I was hitting decent damage, then again I didn't play long enough to see hunters supposedly OP damage. I for one always thought mages were never supposed to hit a lot with their weapons(wands/rods), and instead hit a lot with spells, and since there's going to be 3 new spells at level 8 that could help as well.
 
We are completely re-doing the vocations, there will not be the same balance issues when you next log on.

AoE damage with wands will be enchanted wands only, meaning you will have to cast a spell to make your wand do AoE damage.
(We think forcing you to have AoE damage and possibly get skulled on another player is a bad idea, it should be a choice if you will AoE or not)
 
Yeah thats what i was thinkin, it would hit more, but lower damage.
And true, I never thought about the PVP conciquences. So I'm assuming Enchanters will be the onlys able to enchant wants for AOE (yey for having a girlfriend who will be an Enchanter :>)
 
About Rookgaard, the only reason I'd see it returning, or to even have it in general, is to give players a place to get "started" in the game, gold wise and equipment base wise, and teach them about lumberjacking, and iron ores and etc

If that was the case, the first town would have to be a little be tougher with the monsters there, since players got established in rook

I always thought that there were wands that did a scatter effect not an aoe :o am i wrong?

Yeah they were very high in damage, also a few people new about the trick to shoot Bolts and Spears at the same time to give them tons of damage, it's gonna get fixed though.

It is, but if it was to be put in, that is the reason why it would be, as it is right now, the first town serves that purpose quiet well, and working on content that everyone has access to, always, is probably the best way for us to go.

The damage on the hunter will be balanced, don't worry, with the way spells have been redone it will be much better then before.
