Ascalon - The revival

How about donations this era? Will it be the same as "usual"?
I'd very much like some new cool things in shop as long as it is reasonably fair to everyone. :)

This project is very much worth donating for. Looking forward to the launch! :D

@Gaal I think a good idea would be to leave them in for two week to let people see how they are and then have a poll to determine whether to remove them or keep them.

If they're voted to be removed I think you should introduce them again once people are a higher level and do the same poll.

The thing is if they're too good who will vote to remove them? I don't think anyone would ever enter the lottery, win it and then return the money.

I agree with making them a PvPe feature instead of PvP, The PvP on Ascalon has always been kind of fast paced and relatively annoying to get used to, adding something like Mercenaries would just overwhelm new comers and annoy people that do enjoy regular PvP over PvE like myself.

just make them un-summonable when u have ur pvp fist on? :v Idk, I wouldn't even like to see everyone having 1 merc in dungeons or team fights tbh lawl they're cool when ur solo hunting only

+1 to @Pecax idea, mercenaries disappear once you attack a player.. so if you have a healer it should stay even if a player attacks you. I mean, who would want to lose so much gold just because someone wants to troll you and attack you.. xD

Also to what my boy Edi said, have mercenaries disappear in dungeons so that dungeons don't become incredibly easy. I don't think they'll be that big of an issue if they're only used for solo hunting and minor quests... But I would definitely keep an eye on peoples progress with them, if people advance too quickly then the server gets boring again =P

@Gaal

Ohh eclipse amulet, I was already immortal, and it will help my immortality as fuck ahhahah

In the case of them being too good then they can be nerfed, but I like the idea @Pecax gave.

I dont want to ruin the server with donation items,
I wanted to make only premium scroll as a donatable item
But then we wont be able to run the server so I agreed to the last era shop.
If you have any ideas to improve the shop without destroying the game
Please post them :)

Do you guys think money and event tokens should not be in the shop?

Mercenaries -
First I want to say that we decided to make the mercenaries unavailable
in PvP... and also block them from entering a dungeon.
They will cost gold coins and not alchemy coins.
Once a player buys a mercenary, he/she/it will follow the master till death or till the player logs.
There are diffrent types of mercenaries, each for a different purpose(healer, summoner, tank etc...)

I personally don't like the Mercenary system but I guess that's just me. Ascalon was perfectly fine in previous ERAs without them! I feel like the server will be even easier now than before since everyone will be running around with these mercenaries. I also feel like it will just create a huge mess. Can you imagine all of these people running around with mercenaries? It will be so crowded and annoying. I would of much rather seen the time spend on something like more content (since you can never have enough) rather than a mercenary system. I don't mind a mercenary system, but I just feel like it doesn't fit Ascalon at all. :/

I think the donation shop was fine last time aside from 2 major things.
  1. Getting high grade items from the lottery
  2. Being able to buy upgrade/ability stones
The other items like the teleport stone or the wand of transmute (or whatever it was called) were both good donations item. Also being able to donate for mounts/outfits wasn't so bad either as long as non-donors are still able to get the same amount of outfits/mounts. I don't really the idea of being able to donate for money and event tokens because it lessens their value in game. If money and event tokens are only things that you are able to get in-game then it will hold more of a value since it's not something you can simply get by donating.

What I suggested previous ERA was to add similar donor items that you can get in-game, but they come with limits. For example; there could be a mid-level quest where you get teleport stone, but unlike the donor one this teleport stone has 1-2 hour cool-down, or each time you use that teleport stone it takes 1 event token as payment. This way non-donors have a chance to get similar items.

Lastly I want to suggest that you hold off donations for a few days after the server is launched. If people are able to straight up donate on the first day then non-donors will be left in the dust depending on what the donations are. I'd much rather see everyone start off with a fair start and then once the server is going people can start donating. The point of a donation shop is to support the server, not to have OP items or give insane advantages.

Don't hold off donations at all it may affect server income, because many people donates the first day they play, and I think there will be less donaters if you hold it off even in the long run. The donates does not even give that much advantage. I Actually think premium should give more benefits, like 25 ℅ faster advancement in skills like crafting, fishing and etc. (Not weapon skills, magic level, etc)

Again, Alan the man with all the answers

Pecax,
The mercenaries are not as strong as you think.
It's true that you can raise your dps with their help or get a healer, but with all the
content we added, the pvp changed.
Alot of new spells, items, quest etc that rewards players
with permanent and timed boosts.
We are still testing the mercenaries to see if it wont ruin the game.
And... There's a chance that their cost wont be in gold coins but in alchemy coins,
Which are extermely rare.

i think u should make them only for dungeons or that they can only heal in pvp and atk heal against mobs?

never put gold coins and et in shop it ruin hardly the game since u have such big advantage at low lvl with gold coins and et where others who cant afford or just dont want to donate instantly after server launch have big disadvantage

I also recommend to make all the mounts obtainable trought game not only donor shop. Its also pretty disadvantage for players you also have to think, that ascalon never stood only for long time like 1year :D

And make the items you need for addons not taking forever to farm this will decrease botting for them + less botting. If you make addon items buyable for huge amoung of gold coins or et like 100cc for 100 lizard scales just example or 20 et dunno yet but would have also better trading items when it would go like this since u can farm then "lizard scales" example 100 and sell to players for 700k instead of buying from npc for 100c

also u can sell et for decent price then when 100cc is 20 et I also think that "event Tokens" should be event tokens and not foundable in boxes I mean, i like it but its not really that event token, then maybe make event
tokens buyable with gold coins since in late game money went always pretty useless cuz there was nothing to spend it on just gambling lol where you got more money :D

meh I disagree with all of you! Mercs def go in pvp they should earn their own individual bonuses, additional spells to your character, and their own skills on their own exhaust timers to help kill ppl with all of the annoying cc. I'm not saying make them equal to the power of a actual player but as an addition to your own character for stat boosts and extra dmg's pvp combos.

Also I think adding the addon items to an npc there would be no reason to buy/sell between players. I don't like that idea.
