[list] CIPSoft lazy solutions

it doesn't look like a more advanced at all

They have more complex wallbrush and more complex autoborder.

Corner -> hook walls -> ne and sw wall (non-hookable) -> se corner but they have separate ids for: west T, north T, just se corner and full ("+" shape) so all wall ids are in use.

Same goes for mountain borders (919) - they have an id for every case of merging walls (like old solid borders). We just stack multiple ids on top of each other. Mountain borders are also highlighted in their mapeditor so we can assume that they use some kind of tool to build them.

Regarding autoborder I'm not entirely sure, but it's either like a carpet brush in RME or something that operates on spaces between tiles.

I think that this tool can also generate previews for teasers.

Can someone enlighten me on that knightmare / yurots thing?

Maybe they don't have a sprite where these two different terrains collide (technically, 3 terrains), so they employ this 'creative' solution :p
I do the same thing sometimes lul

The only standout here is that those bushes are nowhere else to be seen, except on those edges, which is an obvious giveaway. Should've made it more subtle.

Great thread!
The list would be endless, I think that most fixes that CipSoft has implemented over the years would qualify in one way or another. Here are a few:

Cheating in general: They change the gameplay to deal with cheaters (hotkeys, stamina, soul points, ambient light, worms, offline training) instead of implementing advanced anti-cheating technology, (i.e. Valve Anti-Cheat System).
Rule enforcement: Both the old (a handful voluntary GM's) and new system (no GM's, CM's check reports) are terrible. Cip should have hired dedicated GM's, and have the CM's coordinate them like in many major MMO's.
Anti-luring system: Instead of placing physical barriers and correctly designing dungeons, they go the lazy way with monsters poofing after certain distance so they don't have to worry were they place them.

They have fucked up so many, many times that I find the fact that the game is still running sad. They don't deserve so.

TL;DR
Cip = Lazy and greedy

I disagree with the 2nd 2.

They got rid of GMs because GMs kept cheating with their GM chars.

Anti-luring, you say all their lure spawns are poorly designed. The same could be said if they just put walls up, it's lazy just adding walls around monsters so you can't lure them.

I personally loved wehen shit got lured into town. they should have just kept this in the game. they certainly considered it with some things though.

As you said, they should fix spawns with walls, they did a LOT of this. Added a bridge from thais heading towards the desert, they used to be flat ground. The dwarvern bridge in kaz mountain used to be flat ground as well. A lot of spawns also just changed from rope holes to ramps, etc

Guys what the hell really, you don't need any custom sprites for this or I dont get what happened here. Sand&water border>grass/whatever>sand&earth connector, thats all? It seems that someone who made this map doesn't know how to deal with it and hasn't spend single minute on figuring this out how it was done on every sandshore in tibia.

how it was done on every sandshore in tibia

they insisted on connecting the shores diagonally (only horizontal and vertical borders exist)
not bad solution actually and I must admit that I used it a few times as well

The worst thing they've done was the anti bot monster back then.
The first version they had. They made often botted monsters like tortoises kind of superstrong. But not only defensive strong but also with an atack strength of a behemoth. What they didnt think of in all this, was that there are actually players HUNTING these and they died by them because its a goddamn low level monster. Then they removed the uber strength and changed it to be uber defensive only. Thats one of these typical CIP solutions.

Another thing was not giving a fuck about their community for years, also having the most unfriendly Email support ever. And when that charged back on them and they lost too many players and their profit got smaller, they just made the game Pay to with with microtransactions. Cip solution. Listen to the community? Advertising for new players? Noo. They have this "no advertisement" rule and I DONT GET WHY. People out there actually like retrogames. Last but not least, they have Steam greenlight since 2014 or so... Nothing more to add to that.
