Tibia Relic - a long-term reversed 7.4 project discussion thread

You've got a lot of statements here, did you work at Cipsoft or how do you have this information? Or are these statements coming from your personal feelings?

There is nothing wrong with using Blizzard as an example because it's a perfect example to use especially since I have facts to back it up. Why would I need to change to different examples when it perfectly highlights the issue with going after private servers?

I also used Hollywood as an example, why didn't you mention it? Like is it too much for your brain to handle?
Since when do I need to work at CipSoft to make this argument? jesus christ.

My position is not based on insider information or personal feelings, but on something much simpler: the complete absence of evidence.

There is no public record, no lawsuit, no cease-and-desist campaign, no court filing, and no documented legal action showing CipSoft actively defending its intellectual property against small or medium OT servers for almost 20 years.

When someone claims that a company does enforce its IP, the burden of proof is on that claim, not on the person pointing out that no such evidence exists. Do I have to teach it to you too?

This is precisely why the Blizzard comparison is brainless. Blizzard demonstrably tries: legal actions, takedowns, court cases, etc. Whether they always succeed is a different topic.

CipSoft’s case is different not because enforcement is hard but because there is no evidence of any attempt at all. They didn't even made his 2007 leak public to this date, they just reverted the game world state back to some days and that was it.

Do you want to keep embarrasing yourself? I can go all day.

As for your Hollywood example, it's up to a comparisson for Blizzard, not for Cipsoft, since Cipsoft never really tried.

I'm on Kay's side and it was really a scumbag move from OP without at least asking Kay first, but it's not true that CipSoft gives zero fucks about it's IP. Mostly they care about the name "Tibia" being used and website layout/images, if you're using it and your server is big enough to get to their attention they might do something about it.

Thank you for clarifying your argument is based on nothing.

You are a nobody with no information about Cipsoft. What the hell do you know what they've tried to do and not tried to do? Do you understand that before going public with going after individuals for e.g. Piracy you build a case before you even make any official statement. Why am I even spending time showing how stupid you are?

When your arguments have any theoretical backing, I will come back and answer you. If you keep coming up with these AI answers, I will just completely ignore you and your remarks.

As far as I can see, he didn’t provide any real evidence that it was CipSoft making any IP claims; it’s just his word, so it can’t be taken as evidence. ClassicTibia server back then also blamed CipSoft for shutting the server down forever, later it was revealed that this was a lie.

As I said, in nearly 20 years there is no evidence to support that CipSoft took any action at all to stop the spreading of their sprites or their customized game, other than stating that they do not support it when asked.

IA? wtf? Are you mad now because your brain can't keep up?
You keep this backwards intentionally because you have no way to sustaint your argument.

I am not claiming that CipSoft enforced its IP, I’m stating the fact that there is no evidence that they did. You are the one asserting that CipSoft has taken action with zero evidence other than “They might be building cases in secret”.

So until you can point to a single concrete example of CipSoft enforcing its IP against OT servers, please just shut up, take note and stop wasting time of others. FYI, I'm done with you, added to ignore list.

there used to be a bunch of servers back in the day that would fake cip emails so they could reset without getting any backlash.
does anyone have any proof about cipsoft genuinely suing anyone or has there just been bullshit?
seems like ur arguing is moot considering we will most likely never get to know the truth about this.
just go out do some blow get a hooker and start the new years with a few stds.
god bless u retards

One argues with feeling, one with reason. I find the way humans communicate fascinating.

Aparently, Iryont got sue, or he created medivia like it is so he could sell it on steam

CipSoft’s official response. It seems some even have permission, likely with a deal paying commission. RubinOT being one of them.

Do you really think OVH would shutdown a server over a fake DMCA notice? It was indeed CipSoft. A few other OT owners also received such notices and a proposition to be "licensed" by CipSoft. I will share the contract that was going around at the time, if it's not enough to convince you I give up.

Like I said before I agree with most of what you've said. I haven't been around the community for a while and I don't know if cip still cares but I know for a fact that they did contact a few OT owners in the past about this "license".

Please explain how this is supposed to work. Do I have to trust you or anyone who claims to have received this piece of paper and just be ok with it?

This was barely a topic both on Reddit and Otland at the time:
Reddit
Otland

This was supposedly from 2018, around the time it was being discussed in those topics, and I don't see anyone giving any proof or confirmation that it was indeed legit and to this date, I don’t know of a single server that agreed to whatever hoster sent this document.

Can you prove it with what was given? Did you double-check it with CipSoft’s support team to see if this was even a real, feasible offer?

Now, even in the case that this was a real contract sent to some servers back in 2018, it would still support my original claim: CipSoft did not take any action at all to stop the spreading of their sprites or their customized game. It is not enforcement, litigation, or any active legal defense of their IP. It might be evidence of licensing (at most), not of CipSoft pursuing or enforcing their rights through legal action.

No, you believe whatever you want to believe, I have no reason to discuss this further. Happy new year!

No, you’re the one believing whatever you want and forcing others into it with no proof, yet you feel free to join an argument with nothing to back up your stance other than “some host friend of mine received this back in 2018”.

I have absolutely no problem being proven wrong. I even sent an email yesterday to CipSoft support in order to check whether this document is veridic or not, and tried to match the signature with Stephan’s signature, but I couldn’t find anything at all. Whatever the outcome is, I will post it here with no shame. My ego is not above the truth, which is what I seek. And anyway, it still wouldn’t prove any IP enforcement from CipSoft, which is my claim.

Regardless of that, being proven wrong doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is lazy people claiming things without doing the minimum effort to double-check their veracity, expecting others to do so. You didn’t even double-check with CipSoft’s support team to see whether this document is veridic or not, and you’ve had at least 7 years to do so, but you didn’t. You just chose to believe something because it looks plausible and pushed others to believe it as well.

Is this document real? I have no idea. Neither do you. But you should be the one looking into it, not me. It’s like going to an antiques auction house claiming you have a rare relic and then asking them to prove it’s authentic. It's just a lack of respect.

Cipsoft won't do anything... end of story. Stop arguing about anything legal, no-one cares including Cipsoft.

Cipsoft couldn't care less, indeed.

The document from 2018 has proven to be fake, and any other document offering licensing was, is and will be fake.

Why would you copy Tibiantis sprites, there are so many better sprites out there to "copy" from 😂 No offense, but bad choice

The website is gorgeous though.
Is this Evil Mark's alt account?
You're hilarious. Tibiabase has custom features and more than just premium. Unlike this thread creator and Tibiara. I didnt steal my web content and tibiantis entire content just to be a wannabe-tibiantis copy.

I respect Kay alot. He is a stand up guy who always was there to help and answer questions. What I dont understand is snakes like this thread owner and Ezzz who did the same and then stabbed him in the back.

I hope that Kay knows my project, and that this is far from it. This is just a rando vanilla server with custom sprites from what I can tell and some added quests.

Already did in the picture, the rest is in your client. Don't assume that I'm going to play on your copy-paste server to find out what else you've stolen. What's even the point of including all of our custom sprites in your client if you never intended to use them, as you say? You don't make any sense at all.

edit: From what I've just heard, you didn't only copy the website content, pictures and sprites. You did exactly the same with the client features, all of our custom changes to items, quests and spells (everything is basically 100% the same), and... hell, you even copied some discord channel descriptions and my discord messages. Someone accused you of using chatgpt for the writing, but they were wrong - it appears that you are too lazy even for that.🤦‍♂️ Good luck with your "Open Tibiantis Server" project.
This is excatly what Tibiara did. This is probably a relaunch of Tibiara under a different brand. Im almost positive.

Think about it. They stole your entire game content from eq, map and web content initially. It was only a matter of time. Their entire goal was to be Tibiantis.
