Server is good, I’m having a great time playing it.
I started playing Tibia in early 7.1, so nostalgia hits hard. Besides that, server mechanics are in good shape; everything seems to work as intended.
The client is what it is: sometimes the simpler, the better.
There were, of course, some dark days when kicks, ddos, and rollbacks were slacking and butchering the server vibes, but the community stood strong and everyone just wanted it to be fixed to keep enjoying it.
About the community, we can’t say it’s much different from any other mega-popular server: dozens of RPG, peaceful, and chill players; a bunch of small Polish PK teams as usual; many streamers with their followers; and of course the usual war mongers. Me, as a neutral elder druid, mid level 40+, have had no big issues with dominando guilds or being heavily PA’d from any side. I’ve been kicked from respawns in a pretty respectful way, and sometimes even war players respect the spawn claim. When they don’t, they’ve let me collect the loot in peace and without rush. There are exceptions, as usual, of course.
The bot thing, especially MC, must be for me the Achilles heel. Control is not efficient; GMs (Teddy especially) don’t seem to take the job seriously, and there seems to be no way to detect cheaters if they have not been reported. Cities are flooded with level 11–12 makers; those are obviously makers doing MC. Yet, I must say I have not spotted a single cavebot. Now that Eric is accepting donations, I hope he puts these dummy GMs to work. I also hope Teddy is moved aside, since what the community senses is that he is only there to hang out and mess around with the community. Might be true or not, but that’s what people feel. There have also been big bans on top high levels for real-money transactions… prost! Sadly, cheater control is not even close to being good; it’s not possible to compare it with Tibiantis, sadly.
What I like the most about this OT is the roleplay. I’ve seen many “player shops,” a “beggar,” the fisher guy, a journalist with an actual newspaper, there is a lootbag service, mercenaries, there was even a baker… many people chatting and hanging around the depot and not being total zombies. Game chat is always active and purely English. There is a guy roleplaying the “anti-letter hero,” a priest, a dog protector, and a whole neighborhood well organized lol. And much more you see every day. The lore of the server is rich.
As for support and gameplay, it’s hosted in NA, which is perfect for me. Tickets are being read, and Eric is always fixing (and breaking xD) things for the community. The login queue is crap, but it is what it is… I suppose it’s going to be removed someday. Spawns are usually taken, but not always. I have had no trouble at all hunting necromancers, vdl, vamp hell, undeads poh, and gs. I’m playing from launch day, by the way.
The server is 100% free to play, which takes away the pressure on Eric to give us a perfect, non-bugged server. Yet, as for his first server, I can only congratulate him for doing it so well so far. I’ve seen millions of server owners charging a lot and giving terrible service. I wouldn’t mind paying for the current server tbh. Thanks, Eric, if you are ever reading this. The server is great tbh I’m having a great time playing project.
