My two cents;
You all say Open Tibia should be fully free, yet there is a premium board here in which you can download the latest TFS.
You all say Open Tibia is free, yet most people posting here I have seen in the marketplace (I'm always there checking out bargains).
You all say Open Tibia is free, yet Otland makes enough cash through premium subs a month to probably even buy Tibia itself. (exaggeration rlx)
Tibia is not free, Open Tibia is not free, nothing in this world is free. Time is money and you waste time on Tibia, therefore losing money. Your time is precious, it's worth even more than money, contributors see it as "spare time" so you have spare money?
Sellers see it as "money making schemes". They create things, learn things, in order to earn cash to spend on Tibia anyway or even to spend back in the Otserv community. MOST however, sell shit and put it in the banks.
If there is a way to earn money, someone will find it. Marketplace or no marketplace, there will be a way to sell their items.
e.g. Vapus
Alot of people went their to sell their shit, OTLand Marketplace opens, everyone sells their shit at Otland. Which I don't blame the staff for opening it, they stepped up to the competition.
People want to make as much money as possible, whether its to support an existing project or creating a new one. I can guarentee that Shadowcores would not exist if Talaturen made no cash from Otland.
Thats my opinion, take it as you like.
Myself, I enjoy earning the few bucks, it's a nice reward, but I've also contributed since I started Open Tibia (2005) more than I've sold anything.
If someone spent a great deal of time (like Znote did on his AAC) do you people expect for real that such items will always be released for free?
Nothing is ever for free
This and left shift it with a 65535.I don't understand your definition of free, it seems to be contradicting. I don't understand how both you and Tyren can say that nothing is free, it is insulting to people who dedicate a lot of time to work on free software. You are also wrong about much you've said, but I see there's no point in arguing with you if you have that attitude ("dont tell me otherwise bcz its bullshit then").

ShadowCores would have existed either way. Not a single penny OtLand has made has been used to create ShadowCores. Money OtLand receives are donations, it's not going into my pocket and OtLand has a lot of costs (server, colocation, domain, forum software, licenses, CDN, ...). Besides, you don't seem to understand TFS development process or our reasoning to keep the source code private while working on the new versions which are ultimately released for free.

So why didnt you remove marketplace yet? I Think I got an idea...
Also to gain access to your "free" software you have to buy premium. (Latest and most stable revs)
Yes TFS is free, but only outdated and buggy versions. Correct me if im wrong.

inb4 shitstorm.
Look at this way instead: the server is a building. The private svn offers access to the construction site, the building is not completely ready for the public and you'll have to tread at own risk, you might get a brick in your head. When the construction work has a reached a point where it's deemed kinda safe and working, the building will be opened up for the rest of the masses, for free.So why didnt you remove marketplace yet? Really? Let me hear your idea, because I'm not using the marketplace at all so it doesn't benefit me to keep it, but there are things being sold there that I don't mind (such as tibia characters and hosting services). There are plans on restricting it further, to not allow selling OpenTibia scripts/maps/codes.

Btw, What is free software? - GNU Project - Free Software Foundation (FSF)
Not rly, you're donating to otland, because of your donation they give you accsess to the newest but unstable tfsThis is what everyone is waiting for, but why are they plans? This can be done in under an hour.
The point I'm trying to make is that your purchasing for access to the subversion. Therefore, it is not a donation. It is purchasing. You become Premium, not Donator (like it used to be). Therefore you are paying for extra privileges.

But people have to pay to have a risk?
To access the subversion, you have to pay to become a premium member, therefore you are purchasing the subversion.
IF IT IS LEAKED FOR FREE; You get banned.
So tell me, how is it free?

The final, finished work is free. Access to the private subversion is an incentive for donations - it's not a product. Therefor, you're not buying a damn thing.
'The money received from premium subscriptions are seen as donations, and by donating you understand that a donation is a gift to support OtLand where you cannot expect anything back in return! However, as stated there are some benefits which MAY BE CHANGED at ANYTIME to fit the standards of OtLand. You understand that you will lose the benefits as soon as your Premium subscription has expired. You also understand that we, the administrators of OtLand, reserve the rights to remove your benefits at any time for any reason. By ordering a Premium Subscription you agree to these terms.'Donating?
Last time I "donated" it was called "Premium" therefore you are purchasing a product.
Do you "donate" to cipsoft and get "Premium" for free because you donated?
No, it is a product.

I guess TFS 0.4 was never completed then?
& Premium is a product, not a donation.
DONATE = Giving something for free, nothing in return.
PREMIUM = Extra access to something / more privileges.
