I'm not in ElothTeam anymore, but I still help them with dedicated servers administration.

Server administrator point of view
Logs of 5 minutes of Kasteria with 1700 online:
  • 4.4 millions packets encrypted and sent to players
  • 2.1 millions ping packets received from players
  • 146.781 steps made (counting only steps by keyboard arrows)
  • 82.436 texts/spells said
  • 63.936 items used
  • 17.649 creatures attacked by battle window
  • 11.954 items moved
  • 242 players logged in
  • 65 players logout
  • 1292 MB received
  • 1462 MB sent

Total CPU load: 20% [of 8 core i9-9900K]
OTS dispatcher thread load: 40% of 1 core [main process of game server]
RAM used: 9 GB
Network: incoming 35 mb/s, outgoing 45 mb/s

I must say that owners of server did great engine optimization.
Last editon it was using 80% on dispatcher thread with 950 players online. Now it's 40% with 1700 online. It can probably handle even 2500-3000 without lags.
Server was moved to other dedicated machine and now all lag detection systems say: no lag.
Ping from europe did not jump over 80 ms in last 2 days and there were no freezes over 0.1 sec on game server. Packet loss from Poland is 0.0042%, which means there is no packet loss.

If someone is interested in costs of hosting popular OTS
I can't say exact types of servers and what they are doing, but I can say total number of CPU/RAM/network used by game server (without website):

CPU cores: 32 [including one 8 core i9-9900K for game server]
RAM: 120 GB
Network used by 1700 players:
  • incoming 99 mb/s
  • outgoing 106 mb/s
SSD discs: 1400 GB
HDD discs: 4000 GB
 
Would it be possible to re-add the command 'instant sell vials'? Would save a lot of irritation of people blocking magic NPCs.

Our goal is to make kasteria fair for every player so we continue minimalizing bots posibilities. To existing antyparals and anty equiping stone skins, today we added anty replacing might and energy rings, so if you guys want to wear them, you will need to update your client. Remember to do that as soon as possible to avoid some problems connected to this change.

As you guys know your suggestions can have big influence for our server, so according to many requests about it, we decide to decrease the frag time amount for 6 hours, so now it's 24 hours for premium players instead of 30 hours and 30 hours for free account players instead of 36 hours.

Remember that every and each of you dear players can help us grow, and everyone is important for us.

On my GTX 1050 TI I got less than 10% GPU usage so I don't really know what might be wrong on your side - it may be bad drivers or computer itself. We are using OTClientV8 so if you want to know about optimizations of it you should just speak with an owner.

Due to lot of reports with missclicked premium tune we have decided to add some popup with acceptation using it.

Popup should come here tommorow if everything will go well. In this case you will need to update your client, as without it you will no longer be able to use Premium Tunes in-game.

Bad computer XD RTX 2070 Super ~500€ GPU. I found solution - unlimited FPS = 100% GPU usage, now i set it on 120 and its fine
 
would be nice if you could boost some tombs/add some new spawns focused for people solo hunting. only a few good ones out there, the rest of spawns are so teamhunting oriented
 
Due to issue with stamina that was being removed only for most dmg and last hit players, we decided to increase it's regeneration for sorcerers during this day, tommorow everything will back to normal and stamina will be removed for each player that received exp from monster instead of to those who last hitted or most damaged monster.
