this whole topic, it's just sad.
@Iryont there's a big chance of you taking this personally but your atitude needs to be improved. You're not open to feedbacks and when critized you instantly enter defensive-ironic mode. Hope you're not the person dealing with players on your project.
Medivia is amazing, it is a milestone in itself when compared to other projects in this community. But from the perspective of gamers (outside Tibia world), comparing it with other MMORPGs from big game companies, your game is still a cheap version of Tibia.
Your public IS the public of Tibia. So you shouldn't be angry when people make those comparisons. We recognize the efforts you took to apart it, but switching the graphics is 5% of the necessary work and you're not quite there yet. The whole dynamic of the game would need to change to dis-Tibiaze it.
That clarified, let me be the defender now:
Guys, calling a game trash is not the way to provide meaning and constructive feedbacks. Enabling Tibia sprites not only could legally pose an impact to the project but is not the idea the team has for its future (clearly). Besides this, there is any other criticism?
The game has recently launched on Steam, it means new players will arrive and the amount of people will grow. This doesn't necessarily mean they will stay for the game, we would need to make analysis overtime and compare data of who was before and continued and who is new and has stayed. In such terms, I don't think Iryont care at all. As long as total number is growing, for him it makes no substantial difference and
HE'S RIGHT.
Making the initial progress faster within time is natural and needed for any game that has years of existence, as time pass new joiners need a faster sense of progression otherwise they won't invest their time knowing they may never reached the 10% highest levels.
TL;DR version:
- Iryont needs to go to therapy and understand why he cannot endure criticism. Or alternatively he can just shut the fuck up and stop acting like a dick with his customers.
- Community needs to learn how to give a proper feedback and understand that not necessarily those will be accepted. The crew of the project has a plan and they can make minor adjustments based on feedback, but an idea the confronts is an idea that will rejected. You won't convice anyone by screaming/fighting with others and calling their project shitty.
