Dear Otlanders,

I hope you're doing well. I'm looking for a TFS 1.+ server that is compatible with Tibia 8.6. It should be stable, easy to set up, and free of major bugs. If you have any reliable options or recommendations, please let me know.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,
Kalista

There are some different versions: I'll send you some links for you to check them out.

Which one do you recommend as the best and most stable option, where I can find everything I need?

I recommend the first link I sent, which is from Gesior/MillhioreBT, more updated and using Ubuntu 22.04+ and Lua 5.4+. It includes an account manager and a mount option that can be enabled or disabled in the config.lua. If you don’t want mounts, just disable it. If you want mounts, simply enable it to have them in the game, along with other features. It’s worth trying!

project seems abandoned

project seems abandoned
You claim the project was abandoned, but that’s not entirely true. Sarah has significantly updated the project’s structure and integrated several improvements, including Lua 5.4 support. It’s actually more up-to-date than Nekiro’s own project.

If you want the project to continue evolving, you need to support the developer. With a donation, they will be able to keep working on it. Unfortunately, nobody works on TFS for free anymore. Supporting the project financially is essential for its ongoing development. It’s really that simple.

I've used nekiro's source for some few months and never had problems at all

did not claimed anything i used the word seems. because it looks like that, but not sure. nekiro's project wasn't abandoned years ago?
i don't even use server or have interest in this one in particular, i was you replying to your post,. maybe it would be better for the thread owner use main tfs / canary etc

Nekiro has just few small bugs nothing to crazy
What bugs did you find in Nekiro's TFS 1.5 base? Please provide a table listing the bugs, explain their causes, and describe their impact so others can understand the issues, take responsibility for their own accounts, and fix the errors. This would greatly help the community. I'm curious about the 'small bug' you mentioned! 👀

I used the TFS 1.5 from NekiRo for a long time, with a bit of work you can make it really good...

But my point of view for those starting a project, considering the biggest and best game client is OTC or OTCV8, the best choice to start a project would be a more up-to-date TFS, and then disable the features you think are unnecessary, if needed... A lot of people start with a downgraded TFS using the 8.0 or 8.6 base, for example, and they have to make modifications to get mounts, market, and other features that are already available in TFS 1.4.2, for instance... Another base I see that is being updated is version 12.86, which works with OTCV8 with 11x sprs and has many cool features, such as OTG or TBR...

To wrap up, my advice is to pick something new with a lot of features that you can "disable" rather than having to make changes to add something. xD

Yeah, it might be a good suggestion. But in the past (10+ years ago) I always struggled trying to do that, it was a lot of work, and me being a programmer, it's easier for me to create something new if I need it than removing unnecessary stuff, changing the spells, and doing the rest of the downgrade.

I just wanted a simple and stable 8.6 base, the rest I could add myself.

If you're not using an old client and are only working with OTClient + TFS, I recommend going with a clean TFS 1.4.2 (1098 protocol) or Black Tek, which performs much better and is superior to Nekiro in terms of smooth gameplay, fluid walking, and other features. However, if you're building a popular map based on Yurots or Baiak, which are well-known in Brazil and use old clients with ElfBot, then go for TFS 1.5 Nekiro or any reliable base, but make sure to apply multiple fixes to keep it stable. It all depends on your needs.

My goal was to make an old Tibia back to the 8.6 version, without any extra stuff, just real old 8.6.

I'll check that TFS 1.4.2 and Black Tek, thanks!

wonder what would be easier downgrade newest tfs or upgrade nekiro's downgraded version. does anybody have a hint? would like to make something old or maybe use new tibia client and files but with 8.6 sprites, is it something hard to do?
