I enjoy reading Kay's writing in the morning with a cup of coffee, it's like reading a well-structured thesis.

You analyze all possible outcomes which I like
Me as well. Only thing I find boring is that the rebuttals against Kay (with exception from xKrazyx) are monotonous and not "well-thought-througed" and doesn't seem to offer any real solution, almost feels a bit like trolling at this point.

Would be interesting, perhaps in its own thread about the specific topic, with a discussion on how a black-market free server might have looked, worked and how much it would have deviated from Tibia in terms of mechanics (trade, items, etc.)

Even if you catch people who buy runes and sells runes for irl cash, Kay also have to able to proove it? the people can just claim they give the runes for free which isn't illegal. How is it even possible to to go around this loophole, even if it sounds absurd and you recieve 100 bp explos every 7 days, you can just use the excuse that you recieved it for free everytime.

cant wait for cipsoft to just push out 7.4 server and actually update it with common sense. OSRS did it Wow did it they will too do it eventually.
Damn if we had 7.4 cipsoft tibia the same way Jagex did with OSRS it would be downright amazing. But Jagex had 4 extremely dedicated and passionate employees (legendary Mod Ash) that pushed OSRS to what it is today, in addition with a community-made client with helpful plugins (Runelite).

I doubt Cipsoft has any employees left that have an idea how to run such a server, with decent updates that wouldnt completely ruin the delicate balance of the game and the lack of p2w which the new 10+ tibia is all about.

I haven't played Tibia since 8.0, so I don't know anything about the game since then. My assumption, from having seen clips online, is that there's a lot of P2W features that people buy. 7.4 had none of that except buying premium.

There's no logical reason to spend their time and resources on a game which isn't going to be a huge revenue earner for them.

@rinoo[/USER] had done this too, he had assumed that he could get rid of p2w by getting rid of runes (though he later revised his goal), while ignoring gold, items, and all the other (no less significant) aspects of p2w.
I said very early in the discussion that it is not the P2W solution. It's the black rune market solution, which is arguably the most and biggest important one. The other aspects of P2W are literally less significant since, with runes, and only with runes, you can achieve all goals in this game we play; from killing a level 17 paladin because he stole your loot bag to killing Ferumbras. You only achieve that with runes and game skills (sadly also tradable cuz account sharing). You can kill minotaurs for years, maybe without wasting more than 1 bp uh, but still, whoever is going to buy this gold from this guy is going to need runes to achieve mid-end game content for what he is buying this gold.

I'm also tired of this discussion just because we don't see it with the proper open mind to new systems that wouldn't break the game but improve it. My proposal was never meant to be in the current Tibiantis, as I also said very early in the discussion. We play Tibiantis as it is right now, accepting this condition.

"Me, Rinoo, I am eating the cake (Tibiantis), so I don't have the cake (a pay-to-win free server)."

And that's it. It's not your job, Kay, to help me create solutions to this issue. Your job is to give us the best 7.4 server, which you do great. I have openly accepted not just now but many times before on this forum that you are an authority on this matter. You have the credentials because you have created an actual server with actual real solutions to this matter, like impeccable bot detection along with other things.

So it's just sad that, from what I can see, the point in every one of your comments is to find a way to close the door at sight to any proposal like, for example, the NA server, a hypothetical new system for a hypothetical new server, updates, rule enforcement, etc.

You just decided it's not possible, then it's just not going to be possible for the next new 150 pages coming and counting.

I'm down to quit this useless discussion. Call me when the NA server discussion is back. xD got much to say.

Blessings

There aren't any left. If you read their website and their organizational chart, it's basically a matriarchy (girl ruled company) where only steve is the original remaining worker from what they public show.

You didn't make it clear at first, that's why it was so confusing. Anyway, you're still in fallacy nr 2. You assume that runes are the main source of the problem, because they determine what players can achieve and in what time. So, you want to kill the black rune market by killing the whole rune market (throwing the baby out with the bath water). You admit that it won't get rid of p2w in other aspects, but you consider them less significant, right?

The fallacy is in that your initial assumption is only true in the current conditions, and the conditions will change. Runes are not the source of the problem, but a symptom of it. Currently, the most obvious one, because all the optimal strategies are based on them. However, in a world where everyone has access to the same number of runes, "winning" will be decided by other factors, and players will adapt to that. Numerous examples were already provided (not only by me). You considered them insignificant, which may be true for now. But they will become more significant with the change of the gameplay, and with players learning new winning strategies for the new conditions.

The source of the problem is in what the name suggests: "pay" and "win". Pay - the fact that there are people willing to spend/earn money (and they won't disappear). Win - the competition between players (and Tibia is all about player-player interaction). Of course p2w can play a larger or smaller role. E.g. smaller if there's much less to win, but it's not the case in your concept if you want to keep it slow paced, long term, and tibia-like (cake dilemma).

You previously said that I am "inventing problems for every idea". You get it wrong, I am only trying to predict them. If you want to discuss it more, I really suggest you to create a new thread, because since it's not related to Tibiantis anymore, it doesn't belong here.

This is a complex problem with a challenging solution. It's not impossible, but it would require a significant amount of time for data analysis and follow-up, which I doubt you have.

You'd need to track both the buyers and sellers of runes.

If runes are serialized upon creation and the creators of the runes are recorded, it’s theoretically feasible but still quite difficult.

I’d be interested to see the data deviations between rune sellers and friends who move runes between each other. I suspect you could identify patterns that warrant further analysis. While an automated system might not be practical, you may be able to enhance visibility into potential rune sellers who could then be monitored for their daily activity.

Ideally, enough data would be there you might be able to compare unique seller/buyer data with those of friends or guilds that are exchanging runes. As I said, you'd need to track where the originator of the item came from.

A system like this could be easily subverted, im more curious if you'd do this in the background if you'd be able to identify potential rune sellers that could then be investigated, or if there would be too many false positives. At least you would then have a sortable list of all players who are trading/moving a high qty of runes, then you could rank them and individually investigate each one(given you had the time).
I'd monitor parcels, market, onmoves, and trades.

LUA:
runeSellers = {
["kay"] = {total_runes_traded = 100, total_gp_traded_for_runes = 100, total_unique_runes_thrown_from_character = 928}
}

runeSellerUniqueCustomers = {
["kay"] = {"krazy", "michael"}
}

runeBuyers = {
["krazy"] = {total_runes_traded = 100, total_gp_traded_for_runes = 100, total_unique_runes_equipped = 525},
["michael"] = {total_runes_traded = 0, total_gp_traded_for_runes = 0, total_unique_runes_equipped = 403}
}

runeBuyersData = {
["krazy"] = {{5, 525}},
["michael"] = {{5, 403}} --{account_id, unique_runes_inventoried_from_that_account} (5 is kay's account)
}

runeBuyersUniqueSellers = {
["krazy"] = {"kay"},
["michael"] = {"kay"}
}

follow the money runes... ha

More trouble than its worth im sure, no way i'd spend the time xD.
this crazy motherfucker actually even came up with a possible idea on how you could do it
AND OF COURSE KAY BACKS INTO A CORNER AND SHOWS HIS FANGS HISSING AT THE HIDEOUS CREATURE THAT DARED TO SPEAK UP AGAINST HIM IN ANY WAY.

All jokes aside I still stand my ground. Its possible. I may not find the solution but I am sure the people with the knowledge and will could do so. I have neither of those things, merely equipped with an opinion and a moral high ground even Kay will eventually learn to envy.
I come from a culture of pride that you couldnt even fathom of dreaming up.

There is no solution.

However, there has been 1 F tier update in 4 years.
Also ank blows
Also no new server and no point to play current one (lv balance broken and content ends at lv 100)

Lets focus on things that matter and can change not on stuff the inbred dummies choose to not understand.

Redirect your dumb or junky energy into trying to get stubborn af kay to open new highrate and he can swim in the profits but naked while writing replies to his dumb trolls.

Banned on his dc for 3 years ;(
Its 7.4 ofc its limited but all ”oldschool lovers” really seem to enjoy running around on lvl 150 and zooming past the entire map spamming 40 sd attempts a minute like its old brabexia.

Kays idea of never resetting is going to be his downfall. This could have been the most popular server of the last 10 years but instead we will have kasteria v28, treasura v888 and nostalrius aka DONATEORDIE v9374718.

And its not just the south americans, that sell their runes for real money problem.
Its also the problem, that sleeping gives u mana.

This 2 problems should be solved, to have a fair game. Else its more a pay to win.

no lol u don't blame poor for work but rich who profit 🤦‍♂️

not an issue to adress to admins but ingame

player is free to choose use or abuse

Suggestion for tibiantis2
Remove gold, remove items. You cannot wear any equipment. You gain no skill advances.
Is the p2w removed? YEAH FINALLY YEA..... Wait
The facebook/telegram trade group posts about looking for blockers to hunt rats (they block and die, you kill the monster) 5$/h

yeah, we know, these new tibia players wouldn't last two weeks without their tibia coins

Would be interesting, perhaps in its own thread about the specific topic, with a discussion on how a black-market free server might have looked, worked and how much it would have deviated from Tibia in terms of mechanics (trade, items, etc.)

so let me tell u, it is completely in the player's freedom to establish the type of game world imagined. if only players are committed 100% to act against the cause by personally taking out those that grind on $.

it is crystal clear to distinguish playstyles of an honest from a dishonest one. you see it in the monsters they hunt, the loot they collect, the time they spend sorting out bags and trading with npc vs trading runes in interaction with other players. it's such a completely different game that u can simply not NOT see it.

everyone here is focusing sellers which remain rather invisible compared to extravagant behaviour of buyers. it is they who have power and control over others that are responsible for not serving the welfare of a community and everyone with eyes can see

players know other players and consider competition constantly. trades and other unfair gain is so obvious they don't go unnoticed by nobody. i must again state this is not the task of an admin. the admins provide the freedom of a world without botting where players have a choice on how they use it.

that is usually thing pk teams do

they mostly hunt people on guards, minos, ab castle etc spawns for lootbags and profit these pk teams burn also a lot of supplies on server

well, it's a hard task to complete and even more difficult to maintain. call it mission impossible. but that's what it would look like imo.

u don't need a reason to kill another player on tibiantis. but it adds more meaning to what ur doing. and meaning motivates. it's worth.

Literally what?

Maybe I just didn't understand what you wrote, but my aim was not on how to combat the black market in an existing Tibia server, rather how mechanics would have to change to remove the purpose of a black market, or at least make it less viable. For example. removing ingame player-to-player trade, and even remove the "throw items to the ground" possibility.

Could it even be done and could you still call the game Tibia after such changes? Sorry for the confusion and sorry for going off-topic again.
