I remember that launch pretty vividly. It was the first time SoE exceeded 1000 players online, and we throttled on file descriptor limits (1024 concurrent connections), but it was during the second week of the server, we suffered from DDoS during the first couple of days.

Anyway, we are getting there today. Don't miss out!

As far as day one results this was the most populated. We normally suffer terribly bad attacks on day 1 and end up maxing out around 800 online. Our player count peeks like one you mention actually usually occur a week after release.

Unfortunately otland hasn't changed our thread title to reflect the new release yet but so far so good participants are enjoying themselves and anyone who wants to come check us out has a good chance of enjoying themselves too!

Well, that is some interesting venom filled review. Unfortunately you have the story backwards - it was the one you named who stole our entire collected bank balance while the project was still in beta leaving me and Tom with nothing crippling our efforts to make the game a reality for awhile. After this we had given up for some months before Tom convinced me to give it another go. When we picked the torch back up we searched for some new team members who also believed in our vision and the rest is history.

Whatever we did to you to cause such a terrible impression I am sorry but you do yourself no favors throwing others dirty laundry around for reaction. The only true part of your post was the 'nice owner' part.

Carcoo was so happy he couldn't resist and told it to too many people. Unfortunately for you some people screenshoted everything.

Well it is kind of flattering this post since nobody ever suspects such things because we don't have this 6000 "online" like some projects we just actually use the legitimate number. Using the real number tends to leave us with lower online count than that of our competitors but it stays true to our values which incorporate absolute transparency. We would never lie to our players by manipulating the online count in any way so you can be assured that number is always the actual. 0 spoofing, 0 fake characters, 0 anything of that sort and feel free to quote me.

I'd love to see any evidence at all of your claims though - let's see these screenshots! Release the Nisyrk files!

If people enjoy our game and they are excited to play who are you to attempt and discourage them otherwise? What kind of individual creates such a vendetta? Either post evidence of wrongdoing or fade into obscurity the same way i'm assuming your life is lived.

We dedicate ourselves to building a game designed by players with their input on everything and maintaining absolute fairness which includes reliability in the player count and prompt removal of rule breakers. In the past maybe our crackdown on cheaters wasn't as hard as some would like; but this is no longer the case. The game is feeling good for anyone online and I would suggest more of you give it a real try instead of shitposting.

However there are issues with longevity and its just another 4 man and pg ots.
It seems that everyone tries to force this concept upon players to the point its barely worth playing if you do not have a permanent 4 voc stack that hunts everything together.

Im not sure how significant this push is for the ot community but we desperately need changes in both the type of servers that are recycled and the direction they are heading.

Its fun to play as a group for a while but once you start repeating the same things over and over again it ultimately makes your gameplay depressing.

There is a constant need for stability, creativeness and curiosity. I believe this project has all of those but you need to invent something brand new instead of continuously creating fresh worlds with different rates and minimal additions and changes. You are well known and liked in the community, if anyone has an opportunity to create something completely new its you.

Make daddy proud.
