With the Staff recruitment closing 2 weeks ago, we have reviewed all applications and made final determinations based on a wider set of criteria. The most important factor we reviewed is whether the contribution history (posts, activity) fits the desired role. That means the quality (not quantity) of your posts/profile posts and how often you are available (we don't require spending hours a day but logging in once a month is not enough).

All members that have been unsuccessful at this stage...

 

Thanks for all the applications, it has been interesting to read most of them and it wasn't an easy task to pick the new moderators... but after having the recruitment board open for a month it was just about time.

The new moderators are:

• Archez - OpenTibia, Community and Art Showoff
• Cybershot - OpenTibia
• Don Daniello - Community Chatboards (with extra focus on the Polish board)
• PAXTON - OpenTibia, Community Chatboards...

 

Bogart, Peroxide and Scarlet Ayleid have been doing an awesome job as board moderators and it is finally their time to become global moderators! We might be opening the staff recruitment board later if we feel that we need new board moderators, but for now you will have to fear our mascot Fury who is the one and only board moderator.

 

Dear members,

Since we were getting a lot of criticism about the current theme and apparently, a lot of people wanted to have a darker theme, I suggested a new theme with a dark color scheme. The new theme was approved by our staff team, which was bought by me a few moments ago. It's the dark version of our current theme so do not expect any big update that you'll have to cope with again. You'll also be given the possibility to switch between the current theme and the new theme...

 

Today, OtLand was unavailable for an hour due to maintenace...

What we did during the maintenace was to patch some minor changes we planned in the forum structure, update plugins we have installed and make it easier for moderators to handle reported posts. The arcade system we mentioned in the previous news post has not been added yet because of some issues we didn't manage to fix, we will be trying to solve it and hopefully the arcade system can be seen on OtLand next weekend.

Last night there was an unexpected downtime on OtLand for approx three hours due to an issue with the server. We're sorry for that. During the downtime we switched from the unstable (Sid) distribution of Debian GNU/Linux to the stable one (Etch). This also fixed some other issues we had on the server such as dpkg (Debians Package Manager) being broken, so now we can really keep things up to date, so we hope that this will increase the stability of the server even more (before the reboot we...

 

It has been a while since an announcement was posted, so I'll try to sum up what we have been working on since the last update. First, we have started writing articles for the upcoming Home page for OtLand, it is intended to help users who are new to OpenTibia to get started, so instead of filling up our support boards with very basic questions, the articles should cover these stuff.
