With the Staff recruitment closing 2 weeks ago, we have reviewed all applications and made final determinations based on a wider set of criteria. The most important factor we reviewed is whether the contribution history (posts, activity) fits the desired role. That means the quality (not quantity) of your posts/profile posts and how often you are available (we don't require spending hours a day but logging in once a month is not enough).

Welcome, in celebrating for our second anniversary I hereby gladly present the public map voting for Group D!

As I told in the thread for registering there will be 4 groups, each group has formed 5 contestants who fit almost in the same category of mapping. They had 7 days to complete their entry with a free choice what they want to create.

After another discussion in our staff board we decided to reorganize the forum again. In the Community section we separated the most active prefixes into forums since it was quite a mess inside the Chat section. The hosted project boards can be accessed by Quick Links -> Hosted Project Boards in the navigation bar which also was reorganized.

Last night there was an unexpected downtime on OtLand for approx three hours due to an issue with the server. We're sorry for that. During the downtime we switched from the unstable (Sid) distribution of Debian GNU/Linux to the stable one (Etch). This also fixed some other issues we had on the server such as dpkg (Debians Package Manager) being broken, so now we can really keep things up to date, so we hope that this will increase the stability of the server even more (before the reboot we...

For the second time, we've decided to reorganize the forum. We are now making more use of the thread prefix system which was introduced in vBulletin 3.7. We hope that it will be easier and less confusing to find things.

Between 22-24 February it will be the days of carnival, the logo of Otland has been adapted to carnival theme and wanted to tell you that the second anniversary in may of Otland is coming soon and we're about to adding some new modifications aswell (including some kind of 'Modbot') that you might expect soon enough!

In the past days, I've cought members posting infected files, it wasn't any common trojan/virus. They did not get infracted/banned, but please scan your files before posting the download links to avoid infractions/banishment.

I'd like to announce the few changes for Otservlist.org's board. There has been a feedback thread in the past where some of you have voiced constructive criticism about the state of the board and its purpose. During its long history, otservlist.org has chosen to use Otland's hosted board as its forum and while we no longer have many "hosted project boards", we are keen to continue offering space for this project.

Today I'm reopening the Staff Recruitment board - our long-standing tradition in looking for interested members to apply to hold staff (moderator) positions.

Our previous recruitment happened about 4 years ago and many of those are still active. We've been through the pandemic, seen resurgence of activity on Otland and our Staff has handled that well. However, now with life mostly back to normal and Otland activity still going strong, we need more help to stay on top of moderation...

I've noticed that the last few days people are making new accounts and posting viruses and other programs that will ruin your computer, I've made this thread to warn people about it and how to avoid getting those annoying viruses and other malware.

Today, OtLand was unavailable for an hour due to maintenace...

What we did during the maintenace was to patch some minor changes we planned in the forum structure, update plugins we have installed and make it easier for moderators to handle reported posts. The arcade system we mentioned in the previous news post has not been added yet because of some issues we didn't manage to fix, we will be trying to solve it and hopefully the arcade system can be seen on OtLand next weekend.

We can't believe how fast time is passing, how many victories we had this year, how many failures we survived in our personal lives.
