Have you installed the latest Direct X? And the application data can be found in the same way as in Xp.
My computer-> Local Disk C -> Documents and Settings -> Your username -> Application Data
Ps you'll need to make it able to show you hidden files and folders.

I think your problem is also because you have your graphic is on its highest rate.
