There is an clean working items.otb in the server distro. Try to replace your current one with the fresh one and see if it works. If the problem persists I'm out of ideas. ;)

Like I explained before. During daytime you could create dark lighted areas (like a undead forest or a cemetery). The basic idea, though, was to make it possible to adjust day-night-cycle settings in the config.lua file.

Considering this is just non-playable showoff mapping it looks really nice. Like someone mentioned before, with some adjustments, this would make a great place to buy blessings/AoL or any other special things. By the way, what ID (or what palette) do the hanging grass things have that you used...

Personally I like it very much. The small elevated passages connecting buildings are a good idea but you should not use wooden borders with desert-style stone tiles. It just doesn't look right together. Probably just wooden floor or dark wooden floor would fit better. Also in the last picture...

Very nice for your first mappings. And oh, when taking screenshots using the map editor: turn off the viewmodes (spawns, houses, special tiles etc) so you just see the plain map and the creatures.
