Argardh mapping: The Worldforge, Castles and Landscapes

Siath-city Park

It doesn't seem to me like you are mapping the world as a player but more as if it were a painting.

you should definitely use the thin mountain borders instead of those big fat ones. Looks ok, a little bit squarey tho

Normally everyone else says the opposite :p Are you referring to the park?

Mate.. last night I looked through some other mappers threads here and I was surprised. Shocked almost. The way they treated mountaborders and borders in general was just horrific(by my "standard"/aim).. the scenes as total looked great though, but the bordings.. it contained stuff that I was allergic to see even before I started mapping infinite amounts of mountain. And the opposite of this is the much appreciated 7.x walls with 0/minimal mountain borders... which I also think looks really bad :p Most likely actually, I think all look like shit.. just that my way is the least shitty in my own opinion, but perhaps not even only graphically because well.. I want/need them to stop players from jumping aswell.

Btw, "thin mountain borders" do you mean the small small gray one that lies on the ground right between wall and floor? I think i've deleted every single one of them on my map.. allergic to some pieces as said :p

I am talking about the entire map as a whole, you should run around the map as a player to get a feel for the world.

It just looks very rushed and really shitty overall.

You don't have to like my or anyone else's opinion but you are the one who made this thread and exposed yourself to public scrutiny.

Ha, no problem mate :) "Entire map" I wonder though, have you seen more than what i've posted? :p

I think there will be a lot of diversity in my mapping, or think and hope that's what I have to show.. but most areas are over-ground and open without much detail because its built to be playable for hundreds of players not single-player. But dungeons, some parts of cities, villages, etc are sometimes more "graphical".

A lot of thought has been put to make it compatible with the kind of gameplay I want to create also, which might be why some stuff will sometimes seem wierd(sometimes very tight passages, sometimes roads and pathways too big etc)..

Seeing what kind of mapping is considered good here, I take no offense :p Mountainborders is a good example of how all players and mappers alike have such an extremely different view on what is "good". Just compare 7.7 fans to 10.0 fans..(as in "fans of the graphic"). Basically the opposites. What i'm aiming for I realized about the mountainborders, and probably many other things, is that I want a lot of the "graphic" to just disappear in the background of the game/gameplay while most mappers are trying to lift it out with doodads and borders that catches the eye.

Ah alright. Umm yeah, that one looks alot better in many places.. will probably try and mix them up in future but redoing existing will have to wait. Maybe not too long though.. haha, stuff like this makes you obsessed. The corner of the mountain to the left of your pictures, the inside corner down to the left side... ive replaced 1000+ of those just the last 2 days. Allergy. You see 1 piece that you want to change and then 50 minutes passes on bordering alone.. :p

Bridge of Hope

Entrance to Plains of Havoc, the region in which Knightwatch is the only settlement and capital.

Edit: Shit.. I just realized some stuff is missing here. Been having power-outs all day so 5-10 min work lost constantly :/

Autoborder ftw

Exactly. Detailing out too much shit might look good on stills/pics on a forum but in-game its just annoying, especially in teamplay/war..

Yay or nay on the stone added between the road and water above the mill?

That's what I, too, was talking about until I started talking about the border in the corner of the mountain..? :p

"Fortress of the Knightmare Knights" is the original name of their "fortress" from PoH.. which is why I did/will use it. Might go with Knightwatch or something similar though as the Tibia name is too long :/

Kings Crossroad / Crossroads Inn

The Village/Fortification just Southeast of Siath-city.
