guess I got it ;> OpenSSL is compiled and enabled in php 5.3 of XAMPP 1.7.2 and so no longer requires a separate extension dll.

Yes, the 0.2.x serie with splitpayment, multiple options etc. But it's not a public version. And there is one I made for TFSCMS that is more integrated, but we won't see that in a while.
