Hunting Season

The air bites with the first whispers of winter, and the forest has shed its vibrant green coat for a tapestry of rust and amber. Beneath the canopy of fast becoming skeletal branches, the creatures of the wild—deer, bear, wolf—blend seamlessly with the fallen leaves, their footfalls barely a whisper on the frosted ground. For those who live by bow and trap, the time has come to test their skill and cunning. The taverns will soon fill with tales of the hunt, and fires will roar to warm those who bring home the season's prized pelts and game. Ready your hounds, steady your aim—Hunting Season has begun!

1727275952304.webp

Deer, Wolves, and Bears may be giving better spoils than normal. The player(s) who have the highest kill-count for each separate category of deer, wolf, and bear will receive prizes. Also a separate category will be for the sum of all independent categories together. Each player's kill count for each animal is logged internally.

1st Place for Wolves, Bear, and Deer: Bloody Trap. A trophy that will be only ever be obtainable by winning this event, which is annual.
2nd Place for Wolves, Bear, and Deer: 60,000 meat
3rd Place for Wolves, Bear, and Deer: 45,000 meat
4th Place for Wolves, Bear, and Deer: 30,000 meat
5th Place for Wolves, Bear, and Deer: 20,000 meat

1st for All: Bloody Trap: Master Huntsman. A trophy that will be only ever be obtainable by winning this event, which is annual.
2nd for All: 60,000 ham
3rd for All: 45,000 ham

During the event raids will occur regularly with these various creatures. About sixty percent of these raid creatures will have fire immunity; otherwise it gives much too great a benefit to high levels.

Time of Event: Friday Server Save, September 27th 11:00EST, to Monday Server Save, September 30th 11:00EST.

Happy Hunting,
Dura Staff

Stillness

u A new condition has been added to the game: Stillness
  • A player will gain this condition after 15 seconds of doing no action, whether moving, spells, speaking, dancing -- anything.
  • When you are 'Still' you are not 'moving' and are 'quiet', you call no 'attention' to yourself. It's for these reasons that (New Sophisticated) ambushes will not happen to you because the 'foes in the area' are not aware of your presence.
u Death Damage is now brighter. Where previously it was very dark red, it is now only slightly dark red.
u The mana-bar should no longer show above a character's head under any circumstances.

Dura Staff

Topic about seasonal server
Is it going to be mid/h rate? Merging with "global" server after few months? And the location on host?

Hibernation

In the thick of Dura’s forest, there’s a cave where bears gather to face the winter. It’s not grand or mystical—just cold rock, hard earth, and the raw survival instinct that drives them. As autumn fades and the air gnashes the skin sharper, the bears come. They’ve eaten well, packing on fat from whatever they could find—berries, fish, roots, small game. Now they’re heavy and slow, ready for the long sleep ahead.

The cave fills up quickly. Bears of all sizes settle in, pressed close against the stone walls. The place smells of damp fur and old soil, and the only sound is the slow, deep breathing of animals settling into hibernation. They’ll stay here, huddled together, as the snow falls and the forest freezes over, their bodies living off the stores of fat until spring comes around again. No mysticism—just survival.

Ankrahmun II

Many new adventures await -- of brawn and brain, of mystery and great foe! Histories are to be unfolded, tragedies will be discovered. Test of strength will challenge each Duran who ventures beneath the dunes, and once below them he will either be swallowed up or come back arms laden with treasure.

1730579590460.webp

Today Ank II is added to Dura! Something for everyone awaits across the desert sands of The Kha'labal! The game's endgame has been extended a great deal with new challenges awaiting each player and rewards! Much has been added, and much has been changed. Overall Dura will now not only have a great deal more to explore and vanquish but the game expands with new mechanics as well as increased depth in its gameplay, and finally a great deal of balancing and tightening up.

1730579621410.webp

Note on Playing - New Launcher:

To play Ankrahmun II and Dura overall you will need to download a new Dura Launcher. A Launcher is essentially an updater that always starts up before the Client is loaded - it happens all seamlessly and automatically. For the player it's as simple as opening the Client, but instead now you will open the Launcher when you want to play. Every time you load Dura's Launcher it will automatically update anything that is new in Dura, a game-patch, a client-patch. Everything. For all intents and purposes the Launcher is simply the Client.

During this time a Dura Logo Graphic will pop up and remain on your screen which is when the download/update of the Dura Client is taking place. Sooner than later we will add a progress-loading-bar so you can follow the progress, but for now the logo will simply sit there. On a day like today where it's the first time The Launcher will run the entire process it will be between 1 to even 5 minutes, and this whole time the Dura Logo Graphic will be present and unmoving. This is normal. However after the first time The Launcher will take no longer than your Client would normally. You'll open the launcher and your client will pop up immediately.

The Game-Launcher has many advantages over a Game-Client which will make Dura overall a much better experience. You can download the Launcher here: Downloads - Dura (https://classic.dura-online.com/?downloads)

1730579697793.webp

Note on Testing:
When we finished Ank II we thought we'd spend a day or two testing, no sweat and she'd be out. Boy we're we wrong -- 12 days! But we're saying this as good news: we spent A LOT of time to thoroughly test, debug, and balance things. So while we're sure there will be some bugs as they have a wonderful way of hiding -- overall you should have a very smooth experience with minimal bugs.

To mysteries and adventures!

Patch Notes

Khepresh Original Vision Fulfilled:

  • Khepresh has recieved it's original vision for The Kha'labal. As we said in this bulletin: 📃┃patch-notes. Therefore you will find a great deal there that has been added or changed in near every way you can imagine. Including increased dangers and deadliness!

Ankrahmun Houses

  • New Houses have been added to Ankrahmun.
  • Note: You can own Lease House along with your Permanent House.
  • For Lease Durations: Instead of lasting 1 Real Life months they now lasts 6 months.
  • When you first purchase a lease-house the fee of the 1st month will be deducted from your person immediately.
  • For every month after that during your lease the month's fee will be deducted from you bank account.
  • If you don't have money in your bank account to pay the monthly fee you will be kicked from the lease and not have to pay the remaining amount.
  • If you want to leave your lease-house you can do so at anytime with !leavehouse. When doing this the remaining fees on the lease do not need to be paid.
  • This effectively means you can only own the lease for 6 months, but you do not need to pay 6 months up front, only 1 month at a time.
  • When a lease expires instead of now having to wait 12 Real Life hours to repurchase the same house (which will allow others to purchase it) you now must wait 24 hours.

Event: Spring Thaw

1746648505966.webp

From Thursday the 8th's Server Save, until Monday the 12th's Server Save, the following will be in place:
  • All (non-raid and non-elite) Creatures will have Double Life (2x Health).
  • All (non-raid and non-elite) Creatures will have Double Experience and Loot, though due to their lumbering size they will appear (spawn) 25% slower.

Best Regards,

Any new servers? Fresh start? Server is nice but looking at online list its pretty much very low population at this point.

Hey Judas,

It is lower than in the past but there's not MC's so in comparison to many other servers that allow them our numbers would 'look' much higher. And if you started to play you'd see there is still a very active, though small community, every day.

However the bigger thing I would say is we have a plan to bring numbers back up with wise marketing and faster, yet still quality content creation, so over the long term I believe the numbers will return to a healthier area.

Afterthought: I suppose another part of it is there is a 'war' going on now which is also suppressing numbers for the time being.

Thanks for taking an interest regardless,
Aris

The Tale of Thalendir and Elara

In the mystical realm of Cilahaen, an elder druid named Thalendir imparted his ancient wisdom to an inspired young apprentice, Elara, who had been under his tutelage for some years. In that time she had improved her learnings under his watchful guidance, developing a deep respect and admiration for her master's abilities.

One fateful moonlit night, Thalendir decided it was time to share a powerful form of lifeforce magic with her. With fireflies floating in a calm air, they gathered beneath an ancient oak tree, the atmosphere charged with a sense of anticipation and wonder. The night was set to become a turning point in Elara's journey. Thalendir initiated the sacred ritual, a symphony of words and gestures that resonated with the energies of the natural world. In the span of a single night, he unveiled the secrets of the spirit of this world , teaching Elara to harness the life force that flowed through the earth, the forests, and the waters. The musings and postures unfolded swiftly, each one brimming with more intensity. As the moon reached its zenith, Elara felt an access to knowledge that she only suspected and hoped at. This new magic imparted by her master infused her being, and she embraced the newfound abilities with unwavering determination. Her reverence to her teacher as well as her own power strengthened in the crucible of a single transformative night.

From that moment forward, Elara's healing prowess soared to new heights. Her touch mended wounds, her presence offered solace, and her voice carried a sense of restoration. The tale of the elder druid and his skilled apprentice spread across Cilahaen, an inspiring testament to the power of dedicated mentorship and the rapid growth that can be achieved with proper devotion to study. And so, the legend of Thalendir and Elara stood as a testament to the life-altering nature of the master's teachings. Within the span of a moonlit night, Elara transcended her previous limits, embracing her role as a formidable healer. Their tale became a whispered reminder of the profound impact that can be achieved when knowledge and guidance are passed on to those who are ready, uncurling the strong roots that waited within a focused spirit.

A beautiful server at the time

But it's very difficult to play a server like that again

Top level 350
A very, very messed-up policy for acquiring new chars by purchasing markets parallel to the game

And a 0-maiker policy

It's very difficult for someone to want to invest money in trying to dominate a server with a policy like that. This was the reason it ended up with a minimal player population

Hopefully, one day they'll be able to open a new world and in a few years they'll be able to merge the two current worlds with a more passive policy for players.

But it's an excellent project, I loved it at the time

Who cares about "dominating" a server, especially one like Dura? This isn't a RLmap 2x rates server that most of those people flock to.

I think this server is fine for people who just want to play the game, not rush through it or have some other goal. It reminds me of the early days of Tibia where nobody was in a rush to hit level 100, it was just seen as a sign of dedication and persistence. I remember spending hours at Femor Hills just farming throwing stones to eventually train with, while chatting with my friends doing their own things.

Some seek adventure, others war. It can't be said that all Tibians are Charloves.

Every empire is born from war.

Season of Nature!

Buds begin small and wary but soon transform into an explosion of green, their tendrils unfurling with the promise of a new layer and memory to the land. Flowers blanket the meadows in colored troves, and the air is heavy with the scent of renewal. Amidst this rebirth, the guardians of the grove stand vigilant, their eyes focused and their senses attuned to the pulsing vitality that travels through root and bough. At the center of an ancient forest, where the trees arch high like the vaults of a branched cathedral, a sage druid communes with the the heart of the earth itself. His hands, marked with the verdant sigils of old, channel the burgeoning power that surges with every passing moment. For in this season, when life returns in its fullest, the earth itself seems more powerful than the sun or the waters or the skies. It is a time heralding growth and boundless potential. It is the Season of Nature.

1714078679443.png

Blood in the Fist!

It's summer and all through the land of Dura runs a sweltering heat. The forests and plains are languid and still, the mountains of the north are shy of snow and the desert seems uncrossable without the safest of provisions. The blood sticks thick in the fist of man and limb of beast, both pant under the sun causing them to swing and thrash wildly with weight. Dura is extra violent in this heated world...

b3b092908e2f6cca07f7bcb95d1622d3.jpg

The event, Blood in the Fist, will occur Thursday June 19th to Wednesday June 25th:

  • Regeneration for all vocations, of health and mana, is to be increased substantially for six days. This will occur the all six days of the event.
  • Party Monsters and Legendary Monsters will appear at a much greater rate for six days. This will occur the all six days of the event.
  • All players (and their summons) will do slightly more damage to monsters, not players, for four days. This will occur the first four days of the event.
  • All monsters will do minutely more damage for four days. Keep in mind this will greatly raise their deadliness. This will occur the first four days of the event.
  • Healing will remain normal, no increase or decrease.
