There are 93 online 7.6 servers on otservlist, I wouldn't call that dead.

There should be a forgotten server 7.6 - 7.7 and a gesiors that works for it, with all features. =)

why should people create a 8.0 - server? There are less features, less stability, less performance, (xml??), less sprites and less monsters. Totally useless. 8.5 is the new tibia and people wants to play that and not a outdated tibia.
In parts its right, people are downloading the server, changing some configuration and but it online. But even in a real map there's a lot of work.. (tracking the new 8.5 cities and other small island took me about 20 hours..)

Im pretty sure people want to play 8.0+ servers now. Many more cool features. I agree i enjoy playing 7.6 ots, i actually play a cool one kinda frequently (its called tibiafun). But the newer ots are much easier to use, and to set up. And the people who make crap ots dont last long anyway, only the top ots that people actually enjoy playing become well known and popular.
I consider anything under 8.5 outdated, but since 8.5 isn't fully complete, I can consider 8.42 still up-to-date.

Real Tibia Map servers are created for those people who have never had the chance to explore the whole tibia map, also for those who weren't able to reach lvl 20 and buy a premium account. This maps are mostly used for PVP and PK Abuse. It's simple, people play this ots just to kill others, then quit it and go to another real life map, get around lvl 100-130 and go to wars and pk abuse, then go to another ot and do the same...
