You mean adding new spawns to the map? I recommend editing the spawn XML file because when you save in RME it will otherwise merge spawn areas that are close to each other.

You should use Remere's Map Editor. It's the map editor that 99% of people use.

You will also need the Tibia 7.4 client so that RME (Remere's Map Editor) can load the sprites. I typically use Internet Archive and browse the old TibiaClient website, here:

1. Is it the best base to build my OT on? I'm planning to create some 7.4/7.6 classic with edited map (want to create the one starting city, somewhere in the middle of the mainland) - or is anything better?

2. And will it work with 7.6?

3. What map editor will be the best to edit this map? RME?

When you say PNG, do you mean to the new map format of Tibia's minimaps, or as a large picture (like a wallpaper)?

The Tibiamaps (fansite) Github has some repositories: Tibia Maps (https://github.com/orgs/tibiamaps/repositories)

Remeres Map Editor is on Github.
Github is not neccessarily shit. That's where most Open Tibia tools are published and developed.

@222222 can you provide the .rec files you've used if you still have it? I've noticed few particular places that's changed on this map and I can't find any source for it on any public recordings.

I haven't had any Tibia related files in about 5 years at this point unfortunately. I quit real Tibia in like 2017 and I quit all OT stuff in 2020. I used a combination of a lot of recordings. Many of them are known to the public like the 4900 recordings release. For some clips I had to message old players in Facebook groups and ask them. It was a tedious process. The Facebook group is called "Memory Lane" and consists of a few hundred old Tibians from the 1990's to mid 2000's. They have a lot of recordings from the earlier parts of the game. Including some recordings from the old GM island (Isle of Solitude).

I understand. Like I said back in 2020 there's indeed a lot of places that are correct but you must have done some manual work from memory that is not accurate, either because of lacking or incorrect source. It also would have been better if you had used the original leaked map as base, because this one lacks the loose items/trash from the original map.
