HesteN's mapping thread [The Scarlet Horn teaser]

Really neat mapping, also its awesome that each npc got his own lil' story.

Trully got rpg feelings on these pics.

As I wander the in the woods, I suddenly walks into a couple of houses, seems to be a small village..

I stumble into a man guarding the entrence of the village, he would only let me entering the village after I had done task for him.

"Eldrige is the "sheriff" of the village, he's handeling the village weapons at he's house, and is the one who guards the village entrence, not letting in anyone out of the village without them gaining he's trust first. He may seem to be abit of a cranky man when you first meet them, because he have some trust issues with new people, but once you get to know him he's a really good person."


I feel like checking the village out trying to learn to know the citizens a little bit.

"Woah, big John. You dont want to mess with John, he's a huge and strong warrior, not aggressive at all and really calm normally, but if you hurt anyone of he's beloved ones you better run, fast. He have kind of retired from he's proffession as a warrior, but he will do what he must to protect the village."


It is a very friendly and peaceful village, but they are absolutely prepared for intruders.

The next person I meet is an old man who seems to be studying his books.

"Marius is the elderly wise magician in the village, who spends most of his days in his home reading books, a polite old man who is very loved by the rest of the village."


I got to meet the mayor aswell!

"Quimby is the mayor of the little village, not that he is more important then the others, but he likes to think that of himself which may annoy the other villagers a little sometimes, but he's not a bad person, perhaps a little stupid tho."


There was a local bar with an elderly gentle bartender.

"Benny is an old gentleman working in the local bar serving drinks to the thirsty visitor (no minors tho, dont forget your ID!) ."


I met a woman, that I would not dare to disrespect.. she was giving me the creeps with all her weapons and bloody thropys..

"Zandra is a very strong warrior woman, who dosent let any man treat her like a girl without them suffering the consequences, she is a very well known female hero among the lands of "Scarlet Horn" and mostly known for all the mighty dragons she have slayed, she have her own personal "dragon thropy" collection in her home, which is her proudest possesions."


I met a man standing by the archery range who seemed to be looking for a new student, he is the village archery teacher.

"An Archery expert who was originally and outlaw, living in the woods but recently met the peope of -

- village, and decided to make his stay here, his proffession in the village is that he teaches the other citizens to

handle a a bow, learning them how to hunt and defend themself and the village."


The woman you can see in the house is Hanna Dolwyn:
"Hanna is a middle-aged woman who is also very loved by the village, mostly for her food, she loves to cook and is really good at it and dosent mind sharing."

So I promised you a fresh minimap update on sunday, and what do u know! Today is sunday!

So here's a closer look @ the main continent, the one Im trying to finish now to get the server up and running!

And here is the entire map, as you can see, there is still alot to do left. :[

Allright time to announce some big changes in the Scarlet Horn crew.


First of: Xeta have been removed from the team due to complete inactivity, no hard feelings hopefully - Xeta is a nice guy, but he just dosent seem to have the time for this, cant even get a hold on him to tell him about this, thats how inactive he's been..


But we got some additions to the team!

First of, I didint give Zyntax a proper announcement I apologize for that, but please welcome Zyntax to the team.
Our second addition is a scripter who gets a tryout time for now, he's proven to be a good scripter but the communication between us havent been good this far, please welcome Far Carder.
And our third addition was someone who came out of nowhere but proved to be a very good addition to take Scarlet Horn to a whole new level in the RPG aspect, please welcome Edymias - our story writer.


And for pics, Im sorry I got nothing to post right now but I can asure you that we are working very hard now! Im working alot on npcs and the story with theese new guys so the mapping have suffered a little, but soon they are all on their own feet and independent and then I'll be focusing 90% on the mapping again! (Yeah I still got alot more to do being the leader of the project xD)

And congratulations on joining the scarlet horn, it's a great project and any member of it should be proud of themselves for all the epic things that have been created so far.

Just thought about giving a little scripting update here (I know it's supposed to show mappings xD)

The scripters are working so lightning speed fast, that we're out of requested things to script!

I think it's in everyone's interest, that we do not give any detailed information about the status of the completion.

We make sure to work like madmans on the server, but we do not want to say something unneccessary!
Updates here and there be it mapping or scripting are just about the right thing to publish.

Well here's something I posted a little while ago, the image wasn't too clear so I redid it and here it is!

Here's an animation of a quest npc I just made. (don't worry about the mapping, this is just me testing on my local machine, its tfs map lol)

He mutates once you complete a quest for him. Just an example of the tons of quest npc's on this server! And yes, we're still making more!

The delay between talking will be longer in-game, just sped it up to keep it under 5 mb, sorry if it's hard to read!
