Necronia - Discussion

Today, we launched a new patch with tons of fixes, additions and changes. Your auto-updater should take care of this update, if not, you can always download a self-extracting archive from our download page.

Here will cover the basis of this patch.

We have updated the lumberjacking, blacksmithing and mining system. You will be able to read a complete tutorial as well as their mechanics in our new Library section in the website menu soon, but until we implement that, you can find the information and new experience tables on our forum. Just click on any of the links and you'll be redirected via a new window:

In our changelog, you can see which Blacksmithing recipes have changed and how. We have also made the Blacksmithing library ingame a bit more convenient to use. All items are now sorted from items with lowest to items with highest skill requirement. Recipes that you have a base for (in your inventory) will be highlighted with green color. All recipes now have their skill requirements displayed after the recipe name.

Lumberjacking has been changed so we had to adapt our current roster of cuttable trees to the new standard. We've added about 10 new plants you can cut, including some bushes and other very common low-level plants.
Here are all the objects that are now cuttable:

Smaller trees and bushes will yield branches instead of planks. If you have 5 branches of a same type, you can [use] them to turn them into a single plank.

And lastly, aside from changing the experience table and converting the system to use experience - we've added more Iron Ore stones around Sattnyr to make the beginning of Mining a bit easier.

The rat sewers below Bawfuria temple have been a bit expanded featuring a new connection between the deeper levels and the main sewer level.

There is also a rumor that some people have been feeding the rats a mysterious new cheese imported from foreign lands that makes them grow! Talk to the sewer manager, he will probably have more to tell you about it.

We've implemented 2 new mechanics. So far, none of them can be used, but we'll soon put up some spells that feature them for testing.
The first one is Pacification, and the second one are Absorbing Shields.
  • oeO6iY0.png
    Pacification
Pacified creatures can not engage in combat at all. Neither auto-attacks nor spells will work while a creature is pacified.
    Monsters can be pacified too.
  • c44f3Fk.png
    Absorbing Shield
Absorbing shields, as their name suggests, will absorb a certain amount of damage from a certain element. They can also be universal shields - absorbing all kinds of damage. You can have multiple absorbing shields on you at the same time, but you can't stack shields of a same type. Monsters will be able to use these shields too.
Full patch notes for 1.09 can be read here, with some details left on the changelog page:
  • Patch Notes for 1.09:
    ~ New mini-boss: Rattlebite
~ New treasures placed on Sattnyr Island.
~ New trees and roots added to the Lumberjacking system.
~ Lumberjacking can now yield 3 new items: Brown Branch, Pale Branch and Darkbrown branch.
~ New conditions and condition icons added.
~ Removed the useless "Rage/Chaos" skill bar in the Skill window. (For some reason, it did not get removed in the last update)
~ Fixed a bug where Hunter vocation icon was missing.
~ New sprites for blood, urine, water and toxic liquid splashes.
~ New sprite for depot locker and treasure chests.
~ Fixed a bug where some shaders (mainly FadeIN/FadeOUT) didn't display properly.

Closed Beta Playthrough Stream
Today from 13:00 - 17:00+ (?)

Channel: http://www.twitch.tv/recklez

We invite all people with access to the closed beta to log in on a new character, play Necronia and hang out with us the entire day.
To all those who don't have an account, be on the stream, we'll be giving out beta keys!

The stream will be held by our tester Recklez who will be your entertainer for today. Staff will be there too, so you can ask all the questions you want.
Let's have some fun!

We no longer have our side funding so the money that was donated before began draining on different things such as paying for the host, reparations of the tools and whatnot, so we decided to restock our OpenTibia store with 20 new beta keys. This is a perfect opportunity to grab one if you're able to and join us on today's adventure.

(tl;dr)

20 new closed-beta keys in the store

Looking forward to this! :)
Glad to hear that :)

The stream is over for now, but Recklez said they might stream more tonight. 5 people got beta keys, and we have 5 more to give away, so tune in. We'll post an announcement once we know when it's gonna happen.

Today, we add a new class to our collection - the tenacious Spearman:

The next class, Spellcaster, should be released pretty soon too. Then we have 2 more to go and that's it for the classes.

The release of the 12th class (Summoner) will be delayed until further notice, and it is highly likely that it won't be featured upon release (unfortunately). It requires a lot of work and changes that we are not yet prepared to make, and we're swarmed by other priorities, so we'll lay that one off for now. Apologies to everyone who wanted to play a summoner. You'll see your class released some time later.

if i purchase a beta key, is it to play the server early? also how long does the key last....
I replied to you on our facebook page already, but just in case I'm gonna paste it here too:

If you get a key, you can access the server early and help us test content the entire time until we release the server.

this is so weird haha

I am not able to get to the logical part in the statement " If you get a key, you can access the server early and help us test content the entire time until we release the server."
Someone is willing to do work for you, test the server, find bugs, report them and make the official release hit in sooner. You actually take money from people who are willing to help you.
In the other side I see that people who want to support you and check ur work are willing to pay. in this case you should have made it an optional donation from x-x dollars i Think 10 bucks to help u is BS :)

anyways good work

Okay let me put this straight then - we've given out a ton of free beta keys to acquire enough testers to help us test the content. Everyone else who comes is very welcome to contribute, but we didn't necessarily need that many testers in the first place, hence the "sale" of the keys for those who really wish to help out even now.
By donating for a key, we ensure that even if you "come to test" (read: i just came to play before everyone does, i won't even report anything), that you at least did something helpful for the server.

And don't tell me nobody would do that because I could go right now and list 80 player names that had some fun and left the server after they saw what they wanted to see - without contributing at all or voicing out their feedback or opinions on the forum.

Either way, it's all for the better of Necronia, and we're all working towards the same goal here.

Yeah i get but there's still lots of custom OT lovers here at otland who just cant pay you the cash for.. erm.. helping u + much of the peoples here been testers on shitload of OT's its not like that every1 who will get an free key will just enter and do nothing.
Trust me, if i had enough $ i would donate asap but instead of that i just need to wait
regards
