Linux The forgotten server

I got the sources compiled already, but I don't know how to run it..when I click on it nothing happens..im running it under Ubuntu 9.10 - Karmic Koala.
Could someone tell me how to run and stop it?thanks!

go to terminal execute command cd /direction/of/your/catalogue

then ./yourfilename

should work..

Hermes acctualy you can you just have to compile the code to gui and not console ... then do the same thing...

So hermes the answer is yes putty window just executes the application which creates a gui window... should work in KDE and Gnome...
