Hello everybody! The OtLand staff would like to say how much we wish for you a Merry Christmas this year. Also, talking about this year, Fury told me that he is happy because we all survived this 2012 world's event (The Last Day 21st December).

Another year is coming to an end and we are so happy to receive 2015.
We can't believe how fast time is passing, how many victories we had this year, how many failures we survived in our personal lives.

But this is it! Take a tame to enjoy your family, have a nice dinner with them, hug your loved ones, give, receive. Don't make foolish goals, try to make them realistic, ask for help to fulfill them and try not to lose one more year.

Last year at 28th May, OtLand's birthday, we had approximately 10,000 registered users and at that time, we didn't expect to have more than 20,000 members by now. But as you can see on our user count, we have managed to reach over 40,000 users! This pretty much proves that OtLand has grown faster this year than in the first year, and it's still growing :thumbup:!

We'd like to thank everyone for still being around and supporting us. Especially the Donators, we've received a lot of...

 

It was the midnight between 27th and 28th May, one year ago, OtLand was formed by Talaturen, and Kornholijo. We did not expect OtLand to grow this large, but thanks to you members, donators and staff members for supporting us we were able to switch from the forum software MyBB to vBulletin and purchase the Galaxy theme from ForumThemes.

Our goal was to create a community for the OpenTibia project, and seeing that we got over 9000 members since the...

As you might have noticed, our "mascot" also known as "Fury" has been Otland's logo for a while now. We feel that it's time for Fury to get a makeover and a better look for 2010!
We are searching for creative artists which enjoy drawing.

For the second time, we've decided to reorganize the forum. We are now making more use of the thread prefix system which was introduced in vBulletin 3.7. We hope that it will be easier and less confusing to find things.

Besides that all Board Moderators has been promoted to Global Moderators and tomorrow there'll be around three new Board Moderators. We'd also like to inform you about that we have affiliated with OTS List (http://www.ots-list.org), an OpenTibia Serverlist maintained...

 

After another discussion in our staff board we decided to reorganize the forum again. In the Community section we separated the most active prefixes into forums since it was quite a mess inside the Chat section. The hosted project boards can be accessed by Quick Links -> Hosted Project Boards in the navigation bar which also was reorganized.

We have also decided to let guests view thread content and user profiles and at the same time include some more SEO with vBSEO since all threads will...

 

After some days of Staff Discussion about a new forum structure, and other changes, we finally patched the changes that we've been planning.

We hope that those changes doesn't cause too much confusion and that you still can find the right board for things, unregistered users will now be able to view the forum without a membership but can not download attachments which registered users will be able to.

We got some issues with the server we have been using during the hardware upgrade and until it will be working again we are using Cato's server to host OtLand.

Cato has also been temporarly promoted to an administrator during this time. We're sorry for the downtime and OtLand will be moved back to the old server again as soon as it is working again.

It's almost spring and that means...

Between 22-24 February it will be the days of carnival, the logo of Otland has been adapted to carnival theme and wanted to tell you that the second anniversary in may of Otland is coming soon and we're about to adding some new modifications aswell (including some kind of 'Modbot') that you might expect soon enough!

Today we updated all our outdated plugins such as vBSEO, and we also purchased the vBulletin Blog plugin. Today I wanted to formally announce changes that were gradually implemented over the past two weeks.

Attachments & Downloads
First and most important, we have enabled attachments and raised the limit of a single attachment to 50 MB.

Why and how was it possible?
Over the past few years I have noticed that many links are dying. We have created The Graveyard and we were force to move content with dead links that couldn't be recovered there. A lot of downloads were...

 

We have now added an arcade system to the forum so that you can challenge other members, it is also possible to take part in tournaments which can be held by Administrators, Global Moderators, Moderators and Donators!

Hello OtLanders,

It has come to the attention of the OtLand staff that there are many Arabians in OtLand that would love to have an own board, it seemed unfair to have an unused board like the Dutch one which has been implemented and not used for a long time now, so after a long time and a big discussion in the Staff Board, the OtLand staff has decided to open an Arabian Board due to the high amount of Arabians in this forum, which means we're going to need new Board Moderators that are...

 

In the past days, I've cought members posting infected files, it wasn't any common trojan/virus. They did not get infracted/banned, but please scan your files before posting the download links to avoid infractions/banishment.

I've recently seen alot of users getting hacked, so I've used some of my free time to look into this and I found a "security vulnerability" in phpMyAdmin which comes with XAMPP. The control user pma comes with an empty password as default, and XAMPP does not alert the user about this.

I'm not going to explain in details how you can take advantage of this vulnerability, but to explain it in a single sentence: the user pma has more permissions than it should have.
