Hello,

well i have made alot of servers and i got alot of complains about never finish them and open them and etc... It really does not matter for me, since everytime i start new project i learn new stuff, new ways and etc.. Now this time, i will gather all the systems i made and put them in one server.

Such as pokemon got level system, passive system and etc..

I want to make a good final server that is very unique and enjoyable. It should include exciting stuff, such as new war concept, new vocations, new story and etc...

Please share your idea's with me :)

Cheers everyone!

So here is my list :p OTS:
- harry potter
- dragon ball/ naruto/ bleach
- something like.. orcs vs elf vs minotaurs (war server)
- gothic

etc etc etc :)

A server that fits into the lore of Tolkien's worlds(lotr and the hobbit).

While it's somewhat not hard to come up with a brand new concept, it's still difficult to make it appeal to a lot of people.

I played this war server many years ago that was entirely based on real life scenarios; that means there is no magic.
Jalapeno peppers gave haste, bandages healed, weapons were crafted, and a few other things factored into character development.
Well, the server flopped. I enjoyed it a lot, but it didn't appeal to everyone. There were at most maybe 20 people online.

Other cool concepts are like what WarZ and DayZ are. WarZ is an open-world survival game against zombies.
DayZ is like WarZ, minus the zombies. It's just a survival game in a post-apocalyptic world. You are with other human players trying to survive.
You could make a server on something like DayZ. Have one large map, apply real life consequences (illness, starvation, predators, etc).

But yeah, as said, will it appeal to the masses?

I still waiting for someone to make an really good otserver based on diablo III gameplay, I would totally support that project :)

Cheers everyone for the suggestions. I've heard many wanted LOTR and etc... I want to keep hear more suggestions.
As Evan said, it may not appeal for everyone.

Though, you could revisit capture the flag. Not sure if anyone remembers, but there was a brief period in the past where capture the flag servers were like real map servers today; they were everywhere, everyone wanted to host one, everyone wanted to play one. But unfortunately, <snaps fingers> just like that and they were gone, they just mysteriously vanished.

Well CTF are now being used as events. Instead of a soley based server.

A one piece OT would be nuts.
With all the arcs, so many quests could be made.
You could have hard/hidden quests for devil fruits that could replace vocations. (At the price of losing the ability to swim)
As well as providing players with the opportunity to train their sword/fighting/devil fruit skills to customize their character.
And a system in which allows a single player to own the title of "Pirate King" at a time.
A marine/pirate system, where a player may choose to be a pirate or marine and climb the hierarchy.

I'd just suggest not to follow naruto/dbz ots foot steps and have vocations limited to characters in the shows.

This is what I always loved about tibia, how you can pretty much make anything you want. It's like a game that's also a game-maker. You could literally make a server based on anything which is why tibia is awesome.

I think how the server is made, is more important than the concept itself. For example, there are lots and lots of Pokemon servers, but do they all have tons of players? No they don't and that's because they are poorly made, or not made to the satisfaction of most players. Thinking of a concept is the easy part, but actually making it suitable to a huge amount of people is the hard part. You could have the lamest concept ever but if you were skilled enough you could easily turn it around and make an awesome server. So I'm not so worried about what the concept is, just more along the lines of how it will be made.

Concepts
  • There's been lots of servers made based on animes such as Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, and I've even seen a few SAO servers, but the truth is that they were all terrible..props to you if you made a decent one. (I have not see a one piece server)
  • Harry Potter is something I've also seen a few times, but they were also made poorly, nor did it appeal to me.
  • LOTR is something I would like to see as mentioned above. It just something that I haven't seem someone do yet, or at least no one has successfully completed it.
  • Eden was making a Skyrim based server back in 2012 but then it got abandoned, sadly.... It was looking pretty cool and I thought it was an epic idea, would love to see something like this. (link: http://otland.net/threads/alagaesia-realm-of-the-dragons.145394/)
  • Like Evan said, a DayZ type server would be cool, I'm just not sure how you would be able to attract a huge amount of people, not to mention getting them to stay.
Good luck with whatever concept you decide to work with. Hopefully you'll be able to stick with it until the end and create an awesome server. :)

Well i have not watched one piece :p

@Zasranets
Cheers mate, as you metion the hardest part would be getting them to stay aswell.

GoGo with the suggestions, i'm really like where it's heading.

Ive been playing with a concept in my head for ages: Something like the old tibialight server. It's a otserver based on dungeon crawling where you have to complete the first level in order to get to the next level with cool very rare legendary drops that give player a reason to do levels multiple times. If you want to hear more about it pm me ;) :p

You just took it out of my brain did you? Cause old Tibialight was so omgfggood !

@Printer
Heya Mate :) So...you still ARE into buissness I see haha :D
What about taking some advice of Leftwings "Tips for a successfull server" thread and start small?
Like really small. And update. Just a little island should be enough in the beginning. Then do some small weekly updates and maybe let Otland as a community take part in this and send in mapped pieces like quests or anything you can think of :) Sure hardcore players may clear the content sooner, but give it a try :)

As for SAO Server, I would be happy to see one since I'm a big fan of the anime.
You could make a floor for each quest and so people would have to clear quests together in order to advance :p
Also perma death would be a challenging factor here and also cities in between the different floors to clear^^

As for DayZ Server: Ive made such a project in the past, however couldnt keep up with the devloping pace. Interest was about low-mid .

Regards,
Damon

Well i never watched SAO actually :p

I thougt about making MOBA server, such as LoL. But i have no idea, if it will fit into the tibia world.

The issue with this is that there can only be 10 players in each game. You'd need to have like 10 games running simultaneously to have 100 players, but even then, you'd have to put queues in for players to wait until one of the games is finished, unless you want to keep adding to the map or figure out how to appropriately get instanced maps working.

@Printer
Ok, Here we are.
Did you ever hear about SILKROAD online game ? ... My idea is :-
Custom vocations what ever are it, it doesn't matter. but their are 3 jobs in a server next to hunting and gaining levels, the three jobs are
1- trader :- whom bought items and jewelries from china to deliver them to europe and put them onto his camel/horse/elephant/cow taking along them to deliver them to the another npc in the another world
2- thief who his job is attacking the trader during it's job with his goods and steals it and selling it also
3- hunters whom the trader give them money to walk with him along his long journey to protect him from thieves and attacking them.

features :-
the trader follow his pet which his movement is slow "LONG JOURNEY"
the goods which he bought from his country when he deliver them he sold them as this formula 1kk goods = 2.5kk goods
the trader cannot attack thieves he just heal himself and his pet
the pet not just an one animal it's depend on how much he carry "more goods he carry = more size animal"
the hunters gain exp from killing these thieves
and more and more but i cannot remember right now.

Well i thougt about copy the arena several times. Sicne each arena will take approx. 1mb, so 100 arena = 100mb = rl map = 1k players xd
