Your vote counts if you are in a Swing-State. Like Florida.
The electoral college votes for who their states vote for. For example if California is even 51% Democrat, the Democrats get all 55 votes (Which they always get, because Cali is a Democrat Majority State). But if for some reason a ton of Republicans voted and made it 51% Republican, all 55 votes would go to the Republican candidate. Which would be a huge deal.

First - C02 that is already in the cycle, plants, animals, etc, has been managed by the climate for millions of years. Plants convert CO2 to Oxygen and Animals convert Oxygen to CO2. So your argument that animals (expecially carnivores) produce more CO2 than a car, may be correct. But the ADDITION of the car is the problem.

Let me make an example:
Lets say the CO2 in the atmosphere is water going into a Bathtub. So we started by having 1 Faucet (animal life) that was converting Oxygen into Carbon.
When just this 1 Faucet, the bathtub stays relatively the same, because it is draining the same amount of Water as we are adding.

But then we added a 2nd Faucet (Coal), and the bathtub started filling up slowly.
Then we added a 3rd Faucet (Fossil Fuels), and the bathtub started filling up even faster.

The few drains we have (mainly plants), can't handle the amount of CO2 production we have increased to.
There will be a point when the bathtub overflows, and that is when photosynthesis stops working effectively because the world is too hot.

Don't forget that there is also addition of bunch of big multicellular life forms, since h. sapiens we started to think and keep animals around for food and other purposes.
Of course cars are something "new" in nature, something which plants and cyanobacteria must additionally deal with, but few thousand years ago there wasn't that much of animals as well. Especially live-stock, including many species of bird which are generally not called with “livestock” title. I’m not even talking about how much more domesticated cats and dogs live in 2016 among humans and how much of them lived in the wild just "only" ~3000 years ago.

I don’t want to nitpick but if You talk science, then “references” are either quotes from some particular research papers or bibliography with the title of that research paper or book with references to that paper
I would much more like to see some proper data that shows the thermodynamic of OEC, rather than You just simply saying that O2-generating complex is starting be unstable and unfolding within the cell at 20 oC.

Also why are you so strongly connecting O2-generation with the whole photosynthesis? Oxygen evolving complex as crucial part of PS II is of course the first step of it, but generating O2 just require that one stable PS II complex with photon-focusing chlorophyll “antennas”. Personally, the government should just get out of marriage completely.

The benefits you get within the marriage law were made to try to encourage people to get married, and have children, and be in a stable relationship that has a higher chance of raising good children up into being responsible adults. It is also why we have such terrible divorce laws.

If you think of it that way, it is very strange to give gay/lesbian people the benefits that were designed to help raise children in a good environment. Since they cannot have children.

Every Law, Tax and benefit the government gives is designed to encourage the behavior they want from it's citizens.
--They want to encourage marriage because it has the highest likely-hood of providing future responsible adults.
--They heavily tax tabacco because they want to discourage the strain on the healthcare system it causes.
--They make laws so drunk drivers get worse punishments than sober ones for the same crimes to discourage drinking and driving.

The additional "benefits" you get when married are paid by tax-payers, with the hopes you being married will provide future responsible citizens.
Giving these benefits to couples who most likely will not provide future responsible citizens, simply because they are less likely to have children, would put further strain on our tax system.

I think all benefits from marriage should be removed, even if it causes a negative impact on society. Instead of getting married couples additional benefits, put that money towards other programs that might help children grow up to be responsible.

In the US, we have an Electoral College. This is because State Rights are very important (each state is very different), so this was designed to help even out the states power in an election.
Every state has 2 senators, and then you get 1 representative per every 700,000 citizens. (Until 1913 when Congress paused this tradition of increasing the house, because we would have thousands of representatives by now which would be too hard to manage)

Each State has very different needs, so each state needs voting power, some states do not have a high population, so their voting power is increased by getting a default 2 senators.
For example: California has 55 - 2 Senators and 53 representatives. But New Hampshire only has 4 - 2 senators and 2 representatives.

If you just go by population, California has over 12% of the votes.
If you go by the electoral college they are brought down to 10% of the vote.

This gives other states more power in the election, so they do not become "forgotten" and just leave the citizens living there to die on their own without representation.

Sorry for bringing up an old post. But I think it's still kinda relevant. As a European I didn't really follow the election propaganda. But since the commotion around the new elected president, I paid attention to him. I have to say I'm impressed with his strong leader attitude. I am starting to see for myself how all the social benefits we have, are leading us to a poor living. I dare to compare socialism to a little bit of communism. The ideals are great. But it just doesn't work for long.
The money we're giving away for free could be better spent on security, renewable energy, more durable building, a more safe & healthy environment (even our roads are terrible). Living in an old Europe with ancient kingdoms is fun but very outdated with often 3 governments in 250 km2, I envy not being led by a single leader who's in charge of continental control.

I dare to compare socialism to a little bit of communism. The ideals are great. But it just doesn't work for long.

1. What’s to dare? You SHOULD compare socialism to communism. To be honest communism was the first actual type of “socialism”. None-communist socialist tuned down their hardcore collectives ideas because populations in most western countries didn’t like commies. They took over Russia with bloody Russian civil war and so called “Republicans” tried to take over Kingdom of Spain in also bloody Spanish civil war. Going full-retard on communist idea would only marginalize those socialist, so they came up with “socialism” that was softcore version of commies.


2. The ideas (I think you wanted to write it, instead of ideals) of socialism are NOT great. First of all, those are against the biological nature of homo sapiens. Among the other things, we are greedy and egoist animals, who strive for success, either by the hard physical work or being smarter than everyone around Us. Cornelis Drebbel or Antonie van Leeuwenhoek didn’t came up with microscope and its application, because They want the good of humanity. They did it for their own reason. Leeuwenhoek for example was cloth trader and microscopes allowed him to look at structure of cloth to assess its real value, instead of just blindly believing the person who was selling that material.
Secondly, socialism is responsible for all of the major genocides in 20th century. The father of socialism – Friedrich Engels, was the guy who invented idea of “subhumans”. He was writing about “volkerabfelle” – “human trash”, in his books or articles. He also kinda came up with holocaust because at least once He wrote about “weltsturm” – “the world storm”. Weltsturm supposed to be some kind of major political event that would “swipe” away European nation that “didn’t achieve capitalism”. In the original idea of socialism, this system could only be achieved by being capitalistic nation and revolting, so nation deep in some kind of pre-capitalistic system like late absolute monarchist feudalism, couldn’t reach socialism in any reasonable time, so They should just “disappear” and make some space for socialistic nation. I know You could say that Engels is not that important in “socialistic circles” because Marx with his Marxism is the O.G. but at the beginning of 20th century that was different. Hitler was reading works of early socialists, same with Lenin and Stalin. Or Mao. Or Pol Pot. Etc.

And also Marx himself was kinda genocide-friendly. He ripped of idea of conflict between classes from someone else and He also was writing about pretty nasty stuff about increasing conflict between “poor” and “rich” during the advancement of ongoing revolution. Or something like this.


So, to summarize my post: Ideas of socialism are “great” if you’re one of those people who either negates the biology of humans or you don’t have anything about oppressing or or killing specific people that doesn’t fit this ideology and cannot meet the “expectation” any time soon.

Donald Trumpet is the new president now. People had their chance to voice their opinion through votes before he got elected.
They didnt do it well enough, (And in America, the majority is not well enough) so they need to stop now. The best thing to do is to make do with what you got. Make the best out of it, which is not to riot and make his presidency a hell.

I do not like Trump, I don't care if you like him or not.

But, in a democracy, we use the freedom of speech to voice our opinions and work out issues.

To anyone who thinks being violent is a good solution, or are proud that they assault people who support Trump, this message is for you.

If you are in the US, this is a democracy. We use the freedom of speech, and voting, along with the constitution and bill of rights to help make laws and elect our representatives.

Even if you didn't like Hillary, you could have still voted for your House Representatives and Senators to support your ideals and help with Checks and Balances. But, PEOPLE (not republicans) voted in a Majority Republican House, Majority Republican Senate, and President-Elect Trump.

You can protest, you can voice your concerns, but being violent about this is immoral. We don't live in a Dictatorship, you aren't going to stage a coup d'état and put someone else into the White House. You are protected by our laws and you have the rights of free speech and freedom to protest. You do not have the right to be violent. You also don't have the right to "get what you want" when it is against the law.

Trump will be the president for the next 4 years. Figure out what went wrong, make changes, and try again next election.

Why was your candidate a very corrupt woman? Why didn't more people vote 3rd party so they had a platform? (You need 15% and they get on stage, then they can start taking an effect).

Imagine if instead of Hilary, Michelle Obama was the candidate? She'd have beaten trump no problem. Bernie probably could have beaten Trump as well (even though I don't agree with his Policies)

Instead of throwing a violent tantrum now, work to fix yourselves for the next election.

Also, to anyone who thinks Trump is going to start deporting legal citizens, you are an idiot.
--Muslims, you are fine, he doesn't want to deport you or care that you are in the US, he wants rational background checks on new muslims (such as Refugees) entering the country to avoid the rampant issues and terrorism happening in European countries.
--Mexicans, you are fine, he doesn't care about you unless you got here illegally, and even then he doesn't have the means to deport you unless you are doing illegal activities inside the US.
--LGTB, I think you over-react about everything, and are a highly-emotional reactionary group that tries to get insane things done by crying the loudest, so fuck you. No one cares if you are Lesbian, Gay, Trans, or whatever, but don't try to change society to match your fucked up world view.

A Constitutional Republic is a FORM of Democracy.

The same way that a Square is always a Rectangle, but a Rectangle is not always a square.
