In my opinion, I don't think there's a single difference between all the pokeballs.
I once spent 100$ on an ultra ball to catch a paras and it failed. I used a great ball on a caterpie, failed. I used 2 super balls on a bellsprout, both failed. I've seen so many people with good, strong, rare pokemons within a normal pokeball, showing strongly that there's not a single or not a big difference between them all.

About the pokéballs, its fairly simple.
For example a Squirtle has 0,3% chance to be caught (info gotten from a tutor).
A poke ball = 1x
Great ball = 2x (0,6%)
Super ball = 3x (0,9%)
And an Ultra Ball would be 4x (1,2%)
So yeah, its best to use normal pokéballs in my opinion.

Those are sad numbers, there's not 1 difference at all.
If it's 4x the chance with ultra ball, then why 13x the price of a normal pokeball?
This is the reason why BRs don't know math.
