Hello Otland

Today I've had a little discussion with Xenios.
It was about how to inform a fellow member, when deleting his post. As I once was a Moderator as well (Otfans though - Silent Reaper), I've been very used to always leave the deletioncomment, which was then sent to the member. (By ModBot of course) Now I found out, thanks to Xenios, that this is not the case. Well Modbot is way to much, it's fine if the member just receives a short note/private message, that his post was deleted, because of following "reason". Elseway the moderator has to quote the member and tell him that he did wrong, but usually the member won't notice the quote and statement of the moderator. In fact this is pretty useless.

I highly suggest to add such a feature. I'm sure that it won't be a problem for Talaturen to install/create such. It'd indeed make the Moderators life much easier and it's more pleasant for the members. Else they won't even notice that there post was/is wrong or has been deleted!

I hope you consider my suggestion.

Best Regards,

Silverstone

Modbot aka Modspam? :p Won't it become longer maintenances?

When doing warning/infractions they will get a notification about it through mails.

Maybe a little, but it's in no way necessary to add a fully working Modbot. Instead just let them know through a pm that their post has been removed. As a moderator it would of course be horribly annoying to send a pm each time you delete a post, so just do so that it does automatically and includes the comment you write to the deletion.

Should be simple ;o

I like your suggestions more and more for each one you give us. This would truely help making the users more aware of what they're doing wrong, without us having to PM everyone for every post we delete. Altho, if you delete multiple of a user's post at the same time, they should only receive 1 PM, just a little heads-up. ;) I guess we'll see what Talaturen thinks about this.

I'm against this idea.

We are deleting the posts with a reason, if people notice that there post is deleted they can look in the rules if they did something wrong. If they can't find it there, they can look in the sticky(s) of the forum(s). When they did that and still don't understand why their post got deleted, then they can always pm a staffmember.

Well, if we PM a user with a "null" account they wouldn't know who deleted it, and that might disencourage people from (always) PMing the moderator in question, and ask for a better reason.

They can pm every moderator, we all can look in the reported post section to check why it was deleted right? Or search for it with the search button.

Why do it on the hard way like you told if they get easily noticed about an post deletion if there was a kind of "Modbot"? and I don't think many people often see that there post has been deleted.

It doesn't has to be a private message as you can try to create a place in the User CP for receiving messages about your post deletions. Then you also could send the infractions/warnings to that place for a better organization in the private messaging system

It's just easier for us and user.

I would like to have that.

Like I told in my previous post, these "spam" will be in a different place then your inbox. Then also the infractions & warnings will be there so you can see everything in one place.

Hmm, That would be something better yeah. But when that is possible and getting implented I think that infractions should be in your normal inbox or be noticed with some kind of pop-up when logging in.

Yep I agree. ;)

Btw that "Spam" you will get should be considered as a serious problem and exists of useful information, since it's about the behaviour in your post and why it has been deleted.

Im highly against your toughts. If you delete my thread, I gotta read the rules to find out the reason? No way..

I support Silverstone idea.

Well Jester, if your post got deleted. Then you don't think that you may have broken the rules? Its pretty obvious because posts don't get deleted without a reason.

Also I support it, if it gets placed into another folder.

Those mods who don't support it, PM the user instead of leaving it blank.
It's a great idea.

Seriously, what the heck is wrong with you?

I mean the moderation you do, has to be based on the rules.. you don't go around and delete random posts (hopefully -.-). I mean it's just fair, that you know that your post was deleted.

Ontop of that, members will learn what to do and what not to do, which will make your moderator life easier..

Thanks for the support and ideas of the others though..
