Today we upgraded the forum to the latest version of XenForo forum software.

This release adds a number of significant features to XenForo, including:

• Native push notifications on supported devices/browsers
• Markdown support
• Tables
• Reactions (different kinds of "Like")
• Avatar next to "last post" information
• URL unfurling (preview of content you link to)
• Emoji enhancements including an improved smilie menu with easy emoji access
• Video uploads (Premium only)...

 

OtLand has been updated to the latest version of the forum software, and all plugins are now up to date, but that's not all.

With this update, we have brought the "Like tree" feature. You can like posts by clicking on the "Like" link at the bottom right of a post. When a thread has at least one liked post a Like tree will appear at the top, below the page navigation in the thread, where you can see the most liked posts. You will also receive a notification if someone likes your post.

We have promoted Samme to a global moderator for doing a very good job as a board moderator, and Kula_ has joined the OtLand staff as a board moderator in the Polish board to try to keep that area under control as there has been complaints on the spam there.

In the next weeks we should have our update to vBulletin 4 ready, once we have updated we will start recruiting more staff members. If you are interested to join our staff and help us to enforce the rules you can start helping us...

It was the midnight between 27th and 28th May, one year ago, OtLand was formed by Talaturen, and Kornholijo. We did not expect OtLand to grow this large, but thanks to you members, donators and staff members for supporting us we were able to switch from the forum software MyBB to vBulletin and purchase the Galaxy theme from ForumThemes.

Our goal was to create a community for the OpenTibia project, and seeing that we got over 9000 members since the...

 

Today I'm reopening the Staff Recruitment board - our long-standing tradition in looking for interested members to apply to hold staff (moderator) positions.

Our previous recruitment happened about 4 years ago and many of those are still active. We've been through the pandemic, seen resurgence of activity on Otland and our Staff has handled that well. However, now with life mostly back to normal and Otland activity still going strong, we need more help to stay on top of moderation...

After the sign-up is done it's now time to vote on the maps that has been send, the people had to make a ruin under the ground level and now you can choose which one is the best and who will win the donation subscription for 3 months!!

The pictures are made by a few contestants, the most of them are disqualified, because they did not send any pictures before the deadline!

7 days ago, almost 30 participators had signed in for the mapping contest where we celebrating the second year anniversary of Otland!
They could choice any theme which then their map would be choosed by the public. Eventhough 10 of them did not sent their entry before the arranged deadline and therefore were disqualified.
Despite that, the remaining 20 contestants where put into 4 groups (A, B, C and D) and when that was done the poll was created and the voting was open...​

The maintenace for a few minutes today was done because of upgrading to vBulletin 3.7 Beta.

It has been a while since I last posted an announcement, that is because I've been busy with many other things. It's time to focus on keeping OtLand up to date again.

Today we updated all our outdated plugins such as vBSEO, and we also purchased the vBulletin Blog plugin. You can use it as a personal blog, or group blog together with other members if you're developing a project and want to post teasers etc. Blogs can be found here: http://otland.net/blogs/. After another discussion in our staff board we decided to reorganize the forum again. In the Community section we separated the most active prefixes into forums since it was quite a mess inside the Chat section. The hosted project boards can be accessed by Quick Links -> Hosted Project Boards in the navigation bar which also was reorganized.

We have also decided to let guests view thread content and user profiles and at the same time include some more SEO with vBSEO since all threads will...

 

We got some issues with the server we have been using during the hardware upgrade and until it will be working again we are using Cato's server to host OtLand.

Cato has also been temporarly promoted to an administrator during this time. We're sorry for the downtime and OtLand will be moved back to the old server again as soon as it is working again.
