i made a custom pvp server many years ago and finished the servers content enough for a launch, except polishing and balancing. It was pretty unique compared to existing servers i might say. Even for today.
Today is not years ago and today there is other problems and priorities im afraid to start the project again.it costs 5$ on hetzner to host for month nowadays.
had a similar event or situation remember i w as like mm maybe 10 years old downloaded a your ot server, those that were released with no source but the datapack, and i felt like a programer by editing the xml data of players or by creating spells. im not a programmer either but im pretty sure that it was what awaken something inside me, that makes me joys this a lot, it all begin with making or editing those simply servers, then creating scripts for bots after it i were looking for these communities(were i used to participate), all of them were dead when i tried to get back to it. then i meet this, otland. and everything changed a lot way a lot.. sources, were there, system changed etc etc.. met tools ides, and son on . tools that i even use in my real life, thank to these, what'ive learned here. there are things that i do and use to make my life easier, like coding for execel or word( all thank to these, like " mm there might be an easier way to do this " by sayin this im not talking about just programming i mean finding a work around or an easier way to develop a task. thank to this there's an idea in my head that everything that comes up to my mind is already done, but it might be improved also i can shut the mouth of ppl that have tried to scam me by now im very disguted by this community but i can't denied that thanks to thiis i've had work, (for real, simply things like install things in a host or get a domain and re-direct it learned things that not everybody learnsI remember that i was like 14 i did a server 8.6 8.54 and had it online on my pc, people donate me via phone credit, which i sold to my mom and family cheaper lol.
But it was just amazing how i "undertstand" the scripts and could have edited all computer programming i have its literally reading scripts and trying to edit them lol, but its fun i enjoyed mapping and doing quest and cities, engineer the gameplay the level the sets, I used to be a drummer my otserver name was zildjian hahaha, and keep the players entertain and happy was my priority, people following and commenting on my facebook requesting friend request I did bring people together lol. It was my dream to make an dedicated otserv.
I never did and never actually studied programming, end up with something else. but sometimes i have that itch to create a world work on something, yes more like a hobby.
now there is no time nor energy for this stuff, but feels good that i was really passionated back then. but yeah basically im still here for nostalgia. and ofcourse a lot of otcreators or players, aswell tibia players are here for the nostalgia trap lol!
I love people who shit talk to me about using chat gpt because they cant even feed it 1 good prompt survival of fittest I too felt that bright feeling when I started with yurots amazing journey brought us this far. if not for this game I probably would never have anything to do with programminghad a similar event or situation remember i w as like mm maybe 10 years old downloaded a your ot server, those that were released with no source but the datapack, and i felt like a programer by editing the xml data of players or by creating spells. im not a programmer either but im pretty sure that it was what awaken something inside me, that makes me joys this a lot, it all begin with making or editing those simply servers, then creating scripts for bots after it i were looking for these communities(were i used to participate), all of them were dead when i tried to get back to it. then i meet this, otland. and everything changed a lot way a lot sources, were there, system changed etc etc.. met tools ides, and son on . tools that i even use in my real life, thank to these, what'ive learned here. there are things that i do and use to make my life easier, like coding for execel or word( all thank to these, like " mm there might be an easier way to do this " by sayin this im not talking about just programming i mean finding a work around or an easier way to develop a task. thank to this there's an idea in my head that everything that comes up to my mind is already done, but it might be improved also i can shut the mouth of ppl that have tried to scam me
chatgpt, copilot and other AIs are great tools that allow people to get info they need quicker than searching in google. I do not use AIs often in daily life but when creating things for my little OTS project.. sure i do! It's helping a lot. It gives ideas for quests, for stories, for monsters, for absolutely anything you want, it fixes potential issues in scripts, write scripts from scratch which are not perfect but are quite often a good base to start creating something.I love people who shit talk to me about using chat gpt because they cant even feed it 1 good prompt survival of fittest I too felt that bright feeling when I started with yurots amazing journey brought us this far. if not for this game I probably would never have anything to do with programming
How many actually got into programming or similar stuff because of playing / creating OTs and learning from community. I bet many, that today work in a very good and well paid job mainly because of thisCheck out my signature.
It's more than the game; it's the journey we share. It fostered a community that provided lasting friendships and valuable lessons.
Even when everyone has left, every server is offline and all code is gone, we will never forget the memories and experiences that led us here.
