It has come to my attention that XAMPP comes with a security flaw which is exploited through the use of the WebDAV (C:/xampp/webdav) folder. A hacker could upload scripts with malicious code onto your website (a shell for instance or a DoS script), thus gaining full access to the website's files and sometimes on the entire server. After a few years of conflicts between us and OTFans we have finally decided that the best thing for the future of OpenTibia is to merge our forums. This will benefit everyone as we will be able to keep all resources at a single place instead of requiring the users to search at different forums to find what they are looking for.

As some of you may have noticed, OtLand was recently unavailable for approximately an hour. This was because we were applying a few changes.

The Rules page - there have been complaints on that the rules are not clear enough for everyone. We have finally taken the time to make the rules more detailed, we have also revised our infraction reasons to fit the rules so that the infraction reason no longer should be confusing. We are proud to give the server Radonia which has been developed for two years the title "OtLand.net's Official OTServer!", it was created by: Kiper, Soul Drainer, Ice, Spedz, Alreth and me, there are of course more people who have helped but these are the main developers of the project, I can't remember everyone who has helped . But the staff, just as much as you, want a good, friendly community here at OTland.

Since we were getting a lot of criticism about the current theme and apparently, a lot of people wanted to have a darker theme, I suggested a new theme with a dark color scheme. The new theme was approved by our staff team, which was bought by me a few moments ago. It's the dark version of our current theme so do not expect any big update that you'll have to cope with again. Dear Otland members,

For some time we have observed decreasing interest in OpenTibia world in general, Otland forum (as well as other OT-related community boards), Otserv/TFS servers and OpenTibia-hacking in general. It is obvious that Tibia is becoming less popular all the time and the community is expanding(?) slowly. We have few developers on whom OT world almost entirely depends on. Even they are sometimes retiring and there are no new contributors that would continue their efforts...

 

It's been a while since we have added new members to the Support Team group.

If you're not familiar with the previous announcement, this is an elite group of people who spend a great deal of their time helping other members on Otland, mainly in the Support board. The Otland Staff selects new members to this group who receive certain benefits and recognition for their contribution. Most of the previous members who started as Support Team members are now Global Moderators. Therefore...

 

The staff recruitment board has finally been closed for this time. Unfortunately I have not had enough free time to leave comments in all the threads, but I didn't really base my decisions on what was written in the threads but more on contributions from the user, their activity in the section they applied for and their reputation (no, not reputation points) on the forum.

It has been a while since an announcement was posted, so I'll try to sum up what we have been working on since the last update. First, we have started writing articles for the upcoming Home page for OtLand, it is intended to help users who are new to OpenTibia to get started, so instead of filling up our support boards with very basic questions, the articles should cover these stuff. We also had a some changes a few weeks ago which included revamping the default member profile layouts to...

 

It was the midnight between 27th and 28th May, one year ago, OtLand was formed by Talaturen, and Kornholijo. We did not expect OtLand to grow this large, but thanks to you members, donators and staff members for supporting us we were able to switch from the forum software MyBB to vBulletin and purchase the Galaxy theme from ForumThemes.

Our goal was to create a community for the OpenTibia project, and seeing that we got over 9000 members since the...

 

It's about time for new blood in the staff. We're adding four new global moderators, and demoting some of the current moderators due to inactivity (as in, they haven't logged in or posted anything for months, and haven't provided any reason for their inactivity). After the sign-up is done it's now time to vote on the maps that has been send, the people had to make a ruin under the ground level and now you can choose which one is the best and who will win the donation subscription for 3 months!!

The pictures are made by a few contestants, the most of them are disqualified, because they did not send any pictures before the deadline!

We have finally managed to move to vBulletin from MyBB, as many of you already have read in your mail it require everyone to use the lost password function because the old password did not work to login with. We have promoted Samme to a global moderator for doing a very good job as a board moderator, and Kula_ has joined the OtLand staff as a board moderator in the Polish board to try to keep that area under control as there has been complaints on the spam there.
