Can you still make money on servers?

Seems to me that nobody is playing anymore, they only do the two top servers, we can easily see servers with 30 players on at the first page.
What d you guys think about the actual situation of tibia servers?

If you are creating a server for money, don't even bother doing it. You won't even have a successfull ot if you go for money..

Tibia is sure profitable still, more than it has ever been. But you shouldn't rely on it because the donations is a bonus to keep the server online, not for you to make money

Well to be honest, your title makes no sense in relation to your post.

I doubt OTs are dead, the community has switched to 8.60 realmaps so they can bot all day and have some 'war' which basically is a couple of bots fighting eachother. That's what they enjoy now, so we'll have to live with that for now.

I totally agree. It came like chain reaction. Botters caused fair players to start use bots or stop playing. Still if you reach the right group of people and you give them what they expect you can be successful. Tibia is timeless. People just need some REALLY fresh and good stuff. But if you set yourself strictly on earnings do not even waste your time.

If it's too custom, a lot of players login and see an unfamiliar environment and say "wow, I don't know where I am." Then logout.
The dedicated players quit because there's only 15 of them online.

Still I'd rather put Tibia based game (or at least custom OTS) than next RL map server with "friendly enviroment". None of RL map server will success anymore.

Well, I know few Polish custom OTs that are running 100+, even 150+ at weekends for quite some time and in addition to that they are making shit tons of money from item shop and pacc... The OTs isn't even that good... it was good few years ago, but know not much has changed and the people are still buying it.

Yes it is crazy nowadays. 3 years ago there were many players, your server had to have at least 150+ players to be at the first page, and today ... seems like dead

Decided to look this up and between 2011 and 2013 there was a HUGE loss of players and servers but after that the playercount has stayed around 20k instead of dropping.

In 2011 they also added this to otservlist: "Adding login servers (summing online players from a few servers) and counting quit players (e.g. on trainers) is also prohibited." which is why I didn't include years before 2011.

Obviously it isn't super accurate since it's not the same date/same time but it gives some nice numbers atleast

Interesting.
Of course that's not all-inclusive and by no means the "best" way to measure the amount of "active OT players." But the drop is far too large to say it means nothing.
