It is now over five years since OtLand was launched (fifth birthday was at 27th May, 2012), and we're still growing despite what may be happening to other OpenTibia websites. There is no reason for us to stop.

Today we have updated the forum software, some of our own plugins and the search engine. Some significant changes are:

• Notification when receiving reputation
• Reputation comments tab in user profiles

April fools!

After a few years of conflicts between us and OTFans we have finally decided that the best thing for the future of OpenTibia is to merge our forums. This will benefit everyone as we will be able to keep all resources at a single place instead of requiring the users to search at different forums to find what they are looking for.

The merge is scheduled to take place in a couple of weeks. More in-depth information will be available in this thread...

 

Thanks for all the applications, it has been interesting to read most of them and it wasn't an easy task to pick the new moderators... but after having the recruitment board open for a month it was just about time.

Dear Otland members,

For some time we have observed decreasing interest in OpenTibia world in general, Otland forum (as well as other OT-related community boards), Otserv/TFS servers and OpenTibia-hacking in general. It is obvious that Tibia is becoming less popular all the time and the community is expanding(?) slowly. We have few developers on whom OT world almost entirely depends on. Even they are sometimes retiring and there are no new contributors that would continue their efforts...

 

It has been a while since an announcement was posted, so I'll try to sum up what we have been working on since the last update. First, we have started writing articles for the upcoming Home page for OtLand, it is intended to help users who are new to OpenTibia to get started, so instead of filling up our support boards with very basic questions, the articles should cover these stuff. Recently there has been some complaints about us moderators doing a weak job in our moderation, the forum is growing, and we might miss a few threads which contain insults, threats, negative/childish arguing.

But the staff, just as much as you, want a good, friendly community here at OTland.

So I post this thread to teach you how to give us a helping hand.

As some of you may have noticed, OtLand was recently unavailable for approximately an hour. This was because we were applying a few changes.

The Rules page - there have been complaints on that the rules are not clear enough for everyone. We have finally taken the time to make the rules more detailed, we have also revised our infraction reasons to fit the rules so that the infraction reason no longer should be confusing. We are proud to give the server Radonia which has been developed for two years the title "OtLand.net's Official OTServer!", it was created by: Kiper, Soul Drainer, Ice, Spedz, Alreth and me, there are of course more people who have helped but these are the main developers of the project, I can't remember everyone who has helped . The staff recruitment board has finally been closed for this time. Unfortunately I have not had enough free time to leave comments in all the threads, but I didn't really base my decisions on what was written in the threads but more on contributions from the user, their activity in the section they applied for and their reputation (no, not reputation points) on the forum.

Last year at 28th May, OtLand's birthday, we had approximately 10,000 registered users and at that time, we didn't expect to have more than 20,000 members by now. But as you can see on our user count, we have managed to reach over 40,000 users! This pretty much proves that OtLand has grown faster this year than in the first year, and it's still growing :thumbup:!

It's been a while since we were last looking for new moderators. We currently have 11 members of our Staff (Moderators and Administrators) and over 60% still visit the forum every single day! For the curious, the last time we were looking for new staff members was in 2011.

While some users may think that moderators are inactive, that is very far from the truth. We handle almost all reports within 24 hours (some escalated reports sometimes need 2-3 days), with most reports handled...

 

It's been a while since we have added new members to the Support Team group.

If you're not familiar with the previous announcement, this is an elite group of people who spend a great deal of their time helping other members on Otland, mainly in the Support board. The Otland Staff selects new members to this group who receive certain benefits and recognition for their contribution. Most of the previous members who started as Support Team members are now Global Moderators. Therefore...

We have finally managed to move to vBulletin from MyBB, as many of you already have read in your mail it require everyone to use the lost password function because the old password did not work to login with. Although most of you would have expected this to be the update to vBulletin 4, we are not quite there yet. We are still working on it, but we can not really estimate when it will be ready. However, we have been working on another smaller update which was just applied.

This update includes bug fixes, changes to the downloads board and changes to our staff. All the previous board moderators were promoted to global moderators, while two of our global moderators have resigned due to lack of...
