Due to the tragic accident near Smolensk, Russia, where Polish president, Lech Kaczyński together with his wife, Maria and part of government staff (including most of Polish Army chief generals, priests) lost their lives due to aeroplane crash we, OtLand staff want to share the pain with you, as there are many of you between us. 96 people were flying on government's Tupolev 154M, all of them died.

Dear Otland members,

For some time we have observed decreasing interest in OpenTibia world in general, Otland forum (as well as other OT-related community boards), Otserv/TFS servers and OpenTibia-hacking in general. It is obvious that Tibia is becoming less popular all the time and the community is expanding(?) slowly. We have few developers on whom OT world almost entirely depends on. Even they are sometimes retiring and there are no new contributors that would continue their efforts...

 

Hello folks.

When I went trough the forum, I have seen some nasty avatars around here, these are mostly sexuality (*where sex organs are fully being shown*) and gruesome tinted avatars. These images aren't appropriate to be on a public forum like OTLand where everyone can have access to.
The same applies to images posted in a thread.

If you would see any sort of those avatars I mentioned then you should report them right away with the report function and we will take care of it...

I'd like to announce the few changes for Otservlist.org's board. There has been a feedback thread in the past where some of you have voiced constructive criticism about the state of the board and its purpose. During its long history, otservlist.org has chosen to use Otland's hosted board as its forum and while we no longer have many "hosted project boards", we are keen to continue offering space for this project.

We are proud to give the server Radonia which has been developed for two years the title "OtLand.net's Official OTServer!", it was created by: Kiper, Soul Drainer, Ice, Spedz, Alreth and me, there are of course more people who have helped but these are the main developers of the project, I can't remember everyone who has helped . You can connect to the server with otland.net as IP, but we prefer that you use radonia.net for less confusion because we are going to make it...

 

After months of planning and working, we have finally launched the update! There are still a lot of things to be fixed but I'll leave that for later.

So what is so special about this update?
The most important changes are the server move and the update to the new major version of vBulletin, 4. OtLand has been moved to a server colocated in Chicago, with a lot more powerful hardware than what our previous server had. We thank everyone that has donated to OtLand for making this...

 

OtLand has been updated to the latest version of the forum software, and all plugins are now up to date, but that's not all.

With this update, we have brought the "Like tree" feature. You can like posts by clicking on the "Like" link at the bottom right of a post. When a thread has at least one liked post a Like tree will appear at the top, below the page navigation in the thread, where you can see the most liked posts. You will also receive a notification if someone likes your post.

April fools!

After a few years of conflicts between us and OTFans we have finally decided that the best thing for the future of OpenTibia is to merge our forums. This will benefit everyone as we will be able to keep all resources at a single place instead of requiring the users to search at different forums to find what they are looking for.

The merge is scheduled to take place in a couple of weeks. More in-depth information will be available in this thread...

 

We have finally managed to move to vBulletin from MyBB, as many of you already have read in your mail it require everyone to use the lost password function because the old password did not work to login with. If anyone registered with a mail that you no longer have access to or is invalid, you can PM me and tell me your password that you had in MyBB and if the information is correct you'll get your user.

OpenTibia has now moved to github for future development.

You can find the new project at https://github.com/opentibia , with a new sleek interface and all that jazz.

There is also a wiki available at github at https://github.com/opentibia/server/wiki , while humble now, in the future, server documentation, guides and information on how to contribute will be available on github as well. It is now over five years since OtLand was launched (fifth birthday was at 27th May, 2012), and we're still growing despite what may be happening to other OpenTibia websites. There is no reason for us to stop.

If you're not familiar with the previous announcement, this is an elite group of people who spend a great deal of their time helping other members on Otland, mainly in the Support board. The Otland Staff selects new members to this group who receive certain benefits and recognition for their contribution. The staff recruitment board has finally been closed for this time. Unfortunately I have not had enough free time to leave comments in all the threads, but I didn't really base my decisions on what was written in the threads but more on contributions from the user, their activity in the section they applied for and their reputation (no, not reputation points) on the forum.
